Won twice here (including C&D) in autumn 2015. Has been struggling most starts over the last year and consequently dropped in the ratings. Hard to competely rule out, but needs to find a bit of old form to figure under top weight.

Two heavy falls over fences appear to have knocked the stuffing out of him and ran poorly on return to hurdles last time. Hard to enthuse over in present form.

Long odds-on landed modest Wetherby maiden hurdle in April but put in place last time at Uttoxeter on handicap bow. Didn't convince that this was her trip and may struggle again.

Run out of it close home over C&D last time and didn't look the heartiest of battlers. No surprise to see first-time visor applied and could go well if reacting well to the headgear.

Shaped with some promise on first start for new connections at Market Rasen recently after a long absence. Should strip fitter this time and yard has been among the winners under both codes. Nicely handicapped on best form.

Hit with 11lb hike after scoring at Southwell two starts back and no surprise to see him anchored on only subsequent start. It could be a similar story here.

Our Follyb53

Relative latecomer to hurdling but has done OK, wininng at Uttoxeter in September off 6lb lower mark. Had a break before a recent spin on the Flat which should have blown the cobwebs away. Not without a chance.

Rarely runs a bad race at this venue. Still in touch when fell 3 out at Southwell latest. Has place claims if recovered from that spill and shrewd veteran handler always respected.

Very little sign of form over last 17 months and ran another shocker at Warwick last time. Very hard to recommend in current form.

Scored at Newton Abbot in April then refused to settle and duly weakened rapidly and pulled up here a couple of weeks ago. Despite great form of trainer, doesn't look the most obvious winner.

Horse silk
Thoonavolla14
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-0| J: Adam Wedge| T: T H Weston| OR:  103| BF| CD

Two good wins at this track in handicap company 12 months ago but has been chasing since, without success. Reverts to timber now and may need time to get his eye back in.

Centurot,v122
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-11| J: Aidan Coleman| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  100

Stopped quickly at Market Rasen three weeks ago suggesting possible breathing issue so no surprise to see first-time tongue tie applied. It may help, and he has a chance if back to the form of his win at Uttoxeter last October.

Westerly Breezeb47
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-7| J: Benjamin Poste(3)| T: Sheila Lewis| OR:  96

Pulled up in three out of four point-to-points last season. First start for new connections and, on balance of form, looks out of his depth.

Back to form with C&D win last time but raised 9lb for his troubles. That was a weaker race than this so more needed if he's going to return to the winners' enclosure.

Won here over 2m4f last August but shown very little since as tumbling rating reflects. Pulled up last time out and is hard to get excited about.

Forecasts

Gingili (9/4), It's Oscar (4/1), Uncle Tone (5/1), Horace Hazel (7/1), Theatre Rouge (10/1), Boher Lad (14/1), Thoonavolla (14/1), Lady Of Longstone (16/1), Centuro (16/1), Jayo Time (16/1), Our Folly (16/1), Jigsaw Financial (20/1), Over The Air (22/1), Cool George (25/1), Sheneededtherun (25/1), Westerly Breeze (33/1), Morthanalegend (40/1)

Verdict

UNCLE TONE is a sporting selection in an open staying handicap hurlde. He should strip fitter for his first run for this new yard and has got a little more scope than most of his rivals. The mare Over The Air should make her presence felt and is rarely far from the places at this track, and youngster Centuro could improve for the first-time tongue tie if back to his form of last autumn. Others worth a mentin include Our Folly and Horace Hazel.
  1. Uncle Tone
  2. Over The Air
  3. Centuro
