Makes his handicap debut off a relatively high mark having run some fair races, especially in the latter two of his three outings in maidens. More needed now and is liable to be outclassed by some of these.
Has twice gone relatively close to getting off the mark over 1m2f, in the style of a horse who would not at all mind the step up in trip she experiences today. Looks on a fair mark for her handicap debut and should still be improving.
Took a step forward to win at Goodwood last time, and as a result goes up 5lb. Up in trip today (shouldn't be an issue; had a half-sister who stayed this trip), and should go well once again.
Out of his depth on handicap debut at Newbury last time (1m3f, soft), but is given an easier task now on ground that should suit him better. Would need to show improvement to take this but he is probably one of the less exposed options in the field.
Went close on handicap debut at Nottingham last time, with this step up in trip looking like it should suit on that basis. Has a 2lb rise to contend with, but that was promising start to his handicapping career and it would be a surprise not to see him win a race of this nature soon.
Didn't manage to get his head in front for Mick Channon (finished second twice and was second past the post on another occasion), but has run some nice races in defeat and it will be interesting to see how he fares now in the care of a new trainer.
Winner on handicap debut at Redcar earlier in the month (1m1f, good), and wasn't beaten too far when upped in trip for a good quality Chester handicap. Down 1lb now and could find races of this nature much more with his grasp, with the galloping track sure to suit.
Won a relatively weak-looking Beverley maiden (7½f, good to firm), but has struggled since switched to handicaps and hasn't received sufficient relief in his weight to expect that to change.
Ran a good third on debut at Newbury in October but has failed to build on that in two subsequent starts. Opening mark looks fair, but he would have to run more to the level of that first performance in order to have a say.
Well-beaten over C&D on her handicap debut last time out and though she may have needed the run after a break, it means enthusiasm for her can only be limited here off the same mark.
Didn't seem particular inconvenienced by a step up to 1m2f last time, but nor did it help him particularly, and it seems as if more than 2lb relief will be needed before he's winning races.
Has beaten only one horse home in three attempts at maidens and looks an unlikely sort on handicap debut, even off a relatively low weight.
Forecasts
Mistress Quickly (4/1), Teodoro (4/1), Solar Cross (5/1), Road To Dubai (5/1), Blushing Red (8/1), Je Suis Charlie (9/1), Chocolate Box (16/1), Castellated (20/1), Akamanto (20/1), Ettihadi (25/1), Akkadian Empire (25/1), Indian Red (66/1)
It would be no surprise if a few of these are winning similar handicaps in time, with Mistress Quickly looking on a fair opening mark and Teodoro likely to prefer this track to the contrast of Chester which he tried last time. Meanwhile ROAD TO DUBAI has had more racing than many of his rivals, but that might not prove to be a bad thing as he can put that experience to good use stepping up in trip, a move which should be fine for him based on pedigree. He has shown talent on many of his starts so far, including when beaten by less than a length last time out, and is taken to get off the mark and the sixth attempt.
- Road To Dubai
- Mistress Quickly
- Teodoro
