Stepped up on previous efforts in 2017 when finishing third over 1m6f at Wetherby (good) last month. Appeared to appreciate the step up in trip on that occasion and this slight drop back in distance shouldn't inconvenience her today.

Maiden after five starts but well held twice in handicap company including upped to 1m2f for the first time at Goodwood (good-to-firm) a month ago. Steps up in trip once more and wears blinkers for the first time here.

Best effort in maiden company came when 13½L fifth of seven over an extended 1m3f at Yarmouth (good-to-firm) under today's apprentice rider last month. Well held subsequently and makes his handicap debut today.

Limited promise in maiden company and last of seven over this distance at Wetherby on handicap debut over 1m6f on good ground last month. An interesting runner for leading connections here.

Maiden after eight starts but ran well upped to 1m4f for the first time at Chepstow (good-to-soft) last month. Stiffer test of stamina here looks likely to suit judged on that effort and is an interesting runner in this.

Well beaten in three maiden races over 7f last year. Latest of those came when last of seven on the AW at Kempton in October. Has been gelded since and takes a significant step up in trip for this handicap and seasonal debut.

Forecasts

Newt (7/2), Imphal (7/2), Plato's Kode (7/2), Rock N Roll Global (7/2), Kiruna Peak (5/1), Air Ministry (11/1)

Verdict

PLATO'S KODE appeared to appreciate the step up in trip when fourth last time out and he can get off the mark at the ninth time of asking over an extra furlong here. The selection is unproven on the forecast quicker ground but his pedigree suggests he will appreciate it and he can take this at the chief expense of the top weight Kiruna Peak who finished third at Wetherby last time out while Newt represents shrewd connections and shouldn't be discounted today.
  1. Plato's Kode
  2. Kiruna Peak
  3. Newt
