Mixes chasing and hurdling, and better at the former, as he showed when taking a Grade 3 at Punchestown last October. Might ideally want a bit further than this but comes here with good claims nevertheless, and should be a player.
Impressive when showing plenty of resolution to win a Novice Chase at Kilbeggan last year, and possible excuses for defeats afterwards. Ground ideal and although he will want further, is fine at this trip. Bit to find but not discounted.
Was set up to have a crack at the Grade 3 handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March (sent off favourite) but a mid-race blunder put paid to chance. Disappointing on latest start too and now has a bit to prove. Others preferred.
Form of his chase win at Limerick in December means he's not a mile behind the best of these on form, but a little disappointing since at recent second at Tramore, though a step in the right direction, requires improvement to challenge the principals here.
Wasn't far behind Hidden Cyclone over hurdles last year but 5lb worse off at weights today, and chase form doesn't really inspire confidence in him being anything other than a place candidate today. May want softer ground too.
Seems happy on a variety of ground and does stay this trip fine, although rarely runs at it. Capable of top class form over fences and gets a useful bit of weight here too. Looks the one to beat on the available evidence.
Forecasts
Hidden Cyclone (9/4), Sandymount Duke (11/4), Sadler's Risk (4/1), Diamond King (4/1), Draycott Place (10/1), Stone Hard (14/1)
HIDDEN CYCLONE is getting on a bit in years but seems to retain all his enthusiasm for the game, and has been found a suitable opportunity back over fences, getting weight here from chief rival Sadler's Risk. He doesn't race much at this trip these days but he stays it well and will set a target for the others to aim at. Sadler's Risk has done little wrong and will try and pick Hidden Cyclone off late in the day but that weight concession may prove just too much. Sandymount Duke is nothing if not game and can prove best of the rest.
