Yet to win from eight starts, but was runner-up at Redcar (7f, good) in September, albeit beaten 4L, from 7lb higher. Beaten by the same margin when stepped up to 1m2f here last time and now goes further (half-sister to winners over this trip) and is able to drop in class, courtesy of a 2lb drop. Yard in form and she looks to have strong claims.

Steps up in trip again after being unable to go with them over 1m2f at the business end last time out. Is half-brother to two winners over this sort of trip and after a 2lb drop in the weights he is very interesting.

Came good at the seventh time of asking when scoring at 33-1 over C&D last time (good). Raised 5lb for that, but the runner-up has come out and occupied that berth again since, giving the form a solid look. Unexposed and could improve, so has to enter calculations.

Well beaten in all three starts in maidens this spring (1m-1m2f) and now goes handicapping over a trip that pedigree suggests he may not get home over. Looks best watched this time.

Form has gone backwards in three starts in maidens over 7f-1m and he was beaten 26L ninth of 10 at Ripon (1m, good to firm) in his reappearance last month. However, makes his handicap debut from a very workable mark and is out of a mare who won at 1m4f-1m6f and is a half-sister to St Leger winner Bollin Eric. Very interesting.

Failed to get competitive in three starts last season for Sir Mark Prescott and surprised a few when 40-1 but beaten just ½L into second in a similar contest on his handicap debut (1m2f, good to firm) at Redcar last week. Dam is a half-sister to a Listed 1m4f winner, so optimism that from 1lb lower today he can go close again.

Finished 5L ahead of stablemate Bollin Ted when both were sent off 100-1 at Ripon last time over 1m, though now 6lb worse off with that gelding. Pedigree suggests that the step up to this trip will be ideal and dam was a C&D winner who acted on any ground. Handicap debut and it will be interesting to see what the market makes of her chance.

Last in all three of his juvenile maidens over 7f and 1m. Reappears here in handicap company from a lowly mark and with headgear and tongue strap applied for the first time. Stamina suggests that there will probably be sufficient stamina for this trip and could now take much closer order.

Forecasts

American Craftsman (2/1), Conistone (4/1), Single Estate (11/2), Bollin Ted (13/2), Somes Sound (7/1), Dyna Might (8/1), What's Up Walter (14/1), Chionodoxa (16/1), Jupiter Ascending (25/1)

Verdict

A really interesting way to pull the curtain down on this card, with last-time C&D scorer Dyna Might trying again from 5lb higher, the Tim Easterby pair of Bollin Ted and Chionodoxa now being tried over a more suitable trip and with very workable initial handicap marks and both Jupiter Ascending and American Craftsman also being noteworthy. However, James Bethell has has string in cracking form and now that CONISTONE is able to drop in class and is tried over this trip, she could be tough to topple.
  1. Conistone
  2. Bollin Ted
  3. Jupiter Ascending
