Won over 6f at Southwell (AW) when with Simon Crisford and then scored on his first start for this yard at Doncaster (5½f, good) 11 months ago. Has not come close to winning since then, but now becomes more interesting from 6lb lower and dropped in class. Market check advised.

All three wins have been over the minimum trip, two of them being last year on the not dissimilar Carlisle circuit (good to firm and good to soft). 2lb higher than the best of those here, but ran well in a stronger contest here last time and has claims.

0-12 on turf, with all seven careers wins being on Southwell's Fibresand surface at both 5f and 6f. Officially rated 15lb below his All Weather mark when racing on turf and although he is 7lb lower here than his last turf start in September, it is not easy to enthuse about his chance.

Has won three times over 5f, though the only one of those on turf was over C&D in a seller just over a year ago. Has been making the frame in that grade of late and now returns to handicapping from 2lb lower and is not ruled out.

Both wins have been on All Weather tracks and over 6f, though he has been placed four times on good or good to firm ground on turf, the best of those being from a mark of 58. 1lb higher than that today and dropped in class, so could get competitive, but hard to be dogmatic about that.

Less exposed than plenty of these after just six starts, having finished in the frame on three occasions, all over the minimum trip. Goes well on a sound/fast surface and from the same mark as when just held last time, plus her good draw here, she could go very close.

Yet to win from eight starts and tried to make all at Thirsk last time, where he might have finished closer ha he not been slightly hampered when the winner went by and took his ground. A 2lb drop and stall two here both look very positive and he is likely to be a serious player.

Sees out 6f, but both wins have been at this trip, the most recent coming last August at Hamilton in first-time cheekpieces and from 7lb lower. Held in all starts since from around this mark, though two of those on turf were on soft and heavy ground. Appears best on genuine good going, but whatever conditions are like he has a bit to prove.

Won a Newcastle handicap over this trip last year from 2lb lower but well held by The Armed Man when running 11th and sixth behind him in that opponent's last two wins and looks to have too much on his plate from 2lb out of the handicap.

Sole success was in a Ripon seller (6f, good) in 2015 and although she has run well once here in a claimer over C&D, her turf form and the fact that she is 4lb wrong at the weights here and has a poor draw are enough to have us looking elsewhere for the winner.

Forecasts

Dundunah (11/4), Young Tiger (11/4), Crosse Fire (5/1), Chip Or Pellet (7/1), Twentysvnthlancers (8/1), Roaring Rory (12/1), First Excel (12/1), Kestrel Call (25/1), Whispering Wolf (33/1), Knockamany Bends (33/1)

Verdict

Young Tiger looks booked for another good run from 2lb lower than at Thirsk last time, when he blazed the trail until late on, but his style of racing could set things up for KESTREL CALL, who is dropped in class here and has won over slightly further, so this stiff 5f and a strong gallop should suit. Twentysvnthlancers and Dundunah looks most likely to be the others battling for prize money at the business end.
