Chasing a hat-trick and dropped back to the minimum trip now after wins over 6f at both Thirsk (good to firm) and Newcastle (AW) in recent weeks. 6lb penalty for the latest of those means that he has gone up a stone in three starts and this will certainly be more of a test from top weight and from the worst of the draw.
Sole win in handicaps came at Southwell (5f, AW) in January from 6lb lower than today's mark. Stable has been in good nick lately and he has a good draw here, though his recent efforts suggests that the handicapper may have his measure at present.
Has a couple of turf wins in maiden and claiming company to his name, both over 6f on a sound/fast surface, though since then he has twice scored at Southwell in a 6f seller and over this trip in handicap company in March. 3lb higher today but ran well from this mark back at that venue two starts ago and not ruled out.
Originally a winner of 7f and 1m, his last five successes have come over the minimum trip when held up off a strong pace. Now 2lb lower than the most recent of those at Redcar in October 2015 and has only raced twice since. If now back in anything like that form he would be a player, but still has it to prove.
The likely pacesetter here, much as he did when making all to win at Ripon (5f, good) last time. Escapes a penalty here because that was an apprentice handicap and merits plenty of respect as a dual C&D winner, one of those being from a 12lb higher mark less than two years ago.
C&D winner last August (good to soft) from just 2lb lower and returns for the first time since with a plumb draw against the inside rail. Acts on forecast going, though both turf wins have been with some ease in the ground, but entitled to respect now back here.
Claimed after winning in that company at Wolverhampton for Brian Ellison in March and followed up on his first start for this yard in a Chelmsford handicap (5f, AW) from a mark of 69. Turf form not as good, however, and judged on what he has been doing of late on the green stuff, he will need a further drop to get competitive.
Sole turf win was seven years ago at Thirsk (5f, good to firm), with his other three being since then over 6f and 7f on All Weather surfaces. Goes into this 5lb lower than his last turf start, at this venue in June last year, but there would have to be a wealth of support to make him interesting.
All five career wins have been over the minimum trip and on a variety of ground. Not got his nose in front since late 2015 when doing so on soft from 2lb lower at Nottingham. No encouragement from two starts so far this season and looks best watched for the moment from 3lb out of the handicap.
1-30 career profile, that success coming here over C&D (good to firm) in August 2015. Races from the same mark today, has a good draw and his rider's claim to come off, while first-time blinkers may help (his win was in cheekpieces). 3lb out of the handicap, but could have an each-way shout.
2-56, though another C&D winner (good to firm) from July 2015, from 2lb lower. Recent form has not been sufficiently inspiring to think that he can produce the goods here from a poor draw and 6lb out of the handicap.

Very moderate fayre here and the in-form PEARL NOIR is taken to overcome what is not the best of draws and follow up his Ripon win at a track that he clearly enjoys. Scott Dixon's charge escapes a penalty for that and can make the most of this opportunity. The Armed Man is respected, but he is drawn further away from the far rail and has now gone up a stone for his recent good form. Jacob's Pillow, David's Beauty and Thatchertite are others with claims if at something like their best, while George Bailey is not ruled out.
