Jumping lacked fluency last season but he improved for the switch to this yard at Warwick last time to finish third of 11. Should improve again from that and feasibly handicapped for top yard; could be tough to beat up in trip.

Some promising performances for Paul Nicholls back in 2014 and went okay in point-to-points for current yard in 2015. Entitled to need his comeback run at Wincanton last time and should appreciate the return to faster ground but still has a bit to prove at present.

Just one win from 20 starts and that came back in 2015. Still above his last handicap mark and thoroughly exposed.

10/1
Point-to-point winner who is still a 15-race maiden under rules. Has gone close off this kind of mark in the past but likely to struggle over this trip.

Still a maiden after ten starts but has gone close on softer ground on a couple of occasions. Weather forecast suggests he's unlikely to get that here though and handicap mark could only be described as fair even if the heavens opened.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: T Scudamore| T: D Pipe| OR:  92
9/2
Finished runner-up off a mark of 105 last year but that performance starting to look like a one-off now and appears to be regressing. A place probably the best he can hope for unless market says differently for last year's winning connections of this race.

Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Banks| T: D L Williams| OR:  76

Yet to win in 27 starts under rules and he's been struggling on her last couple of efforts. Set to struggle again from out of the handicap.

Academy Generalv122
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: David Noonan| T: Miss J Du Plessis| OR:  67
20/1
Just one win in 29 starts under rules and not looked like scoring in four starts for this yard. First-time visor needs to bring a dramatic amount of improvement and set to struggle from 11lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Day Of Roses (5/4), Braqueur D'Or (2/1), Calin Du Brizais (7/2), Sweettoothtommy (9/2), Steel Native (8/1), Chinatown Boy (10/1), The Wexfordian (10/1), Bennys Girl (16/1), Academy General (20/1)

Verdict

Day Of Roses was an easy winner at Fontwell over the weekend and he could go well from just 7lb higher but there's a small concern this run could come too soon so BRAQUEUR D'OR is narrowly preferred on his second start for Paul Nicholls. His jumping appeared to have improved at Warwick last time and his trainer will be keen to build on that run now. Chinatown Boy may have been in need of his comeback run and it will be interesting to see if there's any market support for him this time around.
  1. Braqueur D'or
  2. Day Of Roses
  3. Chinatown Boy
