Won twice on the Flat when trained in Ireland by Aidan O'Brien but hasn't managed to get his head in front since, either on the Flat or on three attempts at hurdles. Needs to show plenty more now switched back to obstacles.

Ran a much-improved race to finish second at Market Rasen on handicap debut last time, and is improving over hurdles with each run. Needs to transfer that handicap form back to maiden company, where he could be vulnerable to a totally unexposed type, but he still has leading claims.
Has shown little in three starts so far, including over C&D in April, and though this race is easier he still has it all to do to even hit the frame in a maiden hurdle.

Returns to the track after a long break, having only previously been seen in two bumpers and a hurdles race, all taking place back in 2015. More than entitled to need this first run back on what also his first run for a new trainer.

Beaten 26L into second on his only start in a bumper, and it's difficult to gauge the form of that race as only the fourth (of four) has run again since, and was again well beaten. Was sent off odds-on favourite that day though, and so is clearly highly regarded, and is one to note on hurdling debut.

Brings some of the strongest Flat form on offer to the field having run in a French Group 1 and in a Royal Ascot handicap (albeit both with limited success). An interesting contender on hurdling debut, and the market should prove a valuable guide.

Forecasts

Jodies Jem (4/6), Ocean Jive (11/4), Mamoo (7/2), Archangel Raphael (6/1), Not At All (14/1), Triggitas (50/1), Sam's A Diamond (50/1)

Verdict

Most of these have a chance of one kind or another, but the one who appeals most is OCEAN JIVE. This former Flat horse brings probably the most convincing form from the level to a race where most of the contenders started off in that sphere, having done enough to merit a place in the starting line-up of a valuable Royal Ascot handicap and a French Group 1. He is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles, while the unexposed Not At All and the improving Jodies Jem can give him most to think about.
  1. Ocean Jive
  2. Not At All
  3. Jodies Jem
