Winning hurdler who was given a tough task on his chasing debut taking on a couple of classy types at Ffos Las over 3m. Now in handicap company over fences for the first time and that should suit him a lot better despite carrying top weight.
Hit a real purple patch last year when winning five handicap hurdles the last off a mark of 115 and enjoying a test of stamina on all occasions. Relatively testing ground has found her out since and her one previous try over fences was poor but that came when she was a poorer model.
Chasing form hasn't matched up so far to his hurdling exploits in two goes over the larger obstacles although he did improve from his debut last time. Still put in a pretty laboured effort though and doesn't look at easy ride over fences but is now down to his last winning mark.
Has always looked a hard ride over hurdles often hitting flat spots and then finding for pressure but does look awkward overall and often needs reminders. Makes his chasing debut here and will appreciate the stamina test but it's to be suspected he'll still be a hard ride.
Returns from a break here after showing some aptitude for chasing on his one start over fences so far. Still a maiden under Rules he has won point-to-points and looks sure to score in this sphere at some point although there is a slight question mark over the 3m trip and if he will stay this far.
Well backed on his chasing debut at Perth he looked as awkward over fences as he has over hurdles. Not fluent early on he still looked a difficult sort and even off a falling mark he makes little appeal here.
Forecasts
Charlie Wingnut (2/1), Our Reward (3/1), Lowcarr Motion (7/2), Thyne For Gold (5/1), Fred Le Macon (12/1), Wyfield Rose (14/1)
Not a great deal of strength in depth here and that should enable OUR REWARD to step forward on his chasing debut where he had little chance at the weights against two useful types. Lowcarr Motion makes his chasing debut but never looks an easy ride and Charlie Wingnut would be preferred be him although the trip might just test that one. Wyfield Rose isn’t the easiest to deal with and her one chase start was uninspiring while Thyne For Gold needs to improve on what he’s done over fences so far.
