Formerly useful on the Flat (won off a mark of (86) he's probably underachieved over hurdles often going from the front and not getting home. Did manage to win a novice hurdle at this meeting a year ago but looks to have struggled in handicaps off this mark and it could be a similar story again.

Bumper winner in France on his debut it took him until his fifth attempt to win over hurdles enjoying a return to the minimum trip at Sedgefield (made all; had run of the race). Anchored by a penalty in novice company last time his mark of 117 doesn't make life easy for him back in handicaps.

Never the easiest ride he took advantage of a change of headgear and a falling mark to record a victory on his penultimate start over slightly further. Up 7lb for that win he followed up to take another handicap responding well to pressure and showing greater determination to beat Weapon Of Choice. Raised another 3lb here his stringer finish may see him confirm the form with that same rival.

Overall profile looks rather up-and-down although he's shaped better of late returned to hurdles after struggling off his higher chase mark despite running some creditable races. Often gets outpaced and looks disinterested but generally finds for pressure and hard to write off here as he bids to overcome a 3lb rise for his Carlisle win over 2m1f.

Has often looked a better hurdler than he is travelling in the style of a decent horse but often failing to deliver as shown by his ruin here two starts ago. Failed to pack a punch last time and may well need a break after running four quick races.

Sparingly raced over the last couple of years and although the handicapper has given him a chance here it's hard to know what to expect. Would have needed the run last time out but despite the falling mark there is a suspicion that he will still need this.

Forecasts

Crackdeloust (9/4), Sudski Star (3/1), Domtaline (9/2), Lycidas (6/1), Weapon Of Choice (13/2), Politeness (11/1)

Verdict

Both Lycidas and Sudski Star have won over C&D although the former has never really convinced over hurdles although a return to his usual front-running tactics may see a better display from him. The latter of that pairing showed a determined attitude to see off Weapon Of Choice last time out who often flatters to deceive in his races. Crackdeloust may well struggle off this mark back in a handicap and DOMTALINE gets the vote here off what still looks a generous hurdles mark with his ability to find for pressure and asset here.
  1. Domtaline
  2. Sudski Star
  3. Weapon Of Choice
