Not won since a Listed success back in July 2014 and, while he's been highly tried in Group company on occasions, recent efforts in handicap company have been uninspiring. Not hard to look elsewhere.
Took advantage of a falling mark to win twice in succession last month (both 1m4f, good to firm) but soundly beaten over a longer trip at Doncaster last time. Better than he showed there but handicapper still looks to have his measure.
Former C&D winner who has scored off a stone higher mark in the past but hasn't quite looked the force of old over the past 18 months or so. A 10L fifth behind Zain Arion (good to soft) over C&D latest, but only dropped 1lb.
More renowned for exploits over 1m2f but has won over this trip and he put a series of modest efforts behind him when narrowly touched off over 1m2f at Ripon (good to firm) latest. Raised 3lb but should remain competitive.
Regular winner for a few different yards but is weighted 4lb above his last winning mark, despite dropping 1lb for a decent third-placed effort at Thirsk (1m4f, good to firm) last time. No margin for error.
Showed ability in Irish maidens, then changed hands a couple of times without running before landing a bit of a gamble on his debut for this yard in a 1m4f Yarmouth handicap (good) last week. In good hands and a 7lb rise may not stop him.
Has improved with each run in maidens, culminating in an emphatic, odds-on success over 1m4f on the AW at Newcastle. Clearly more to come from him with yard in red-hot form and opening mark doesn't look unrealistic.
Won twice in his first five starts (both over 1m) but handicapper has had his measure since then. Yet to really fire in two runs for this yard, finishing just in front of Chancery at York recently. Stiffish task but yard did win this last year.
Only recorded one win from 14 Flat starts, though hinted his time was near when a runner-up at Chester last time (1m4f, good), albeit from a plum draw. Still no surprise if he found at least a couple too good.

Not too many of these jump off the page as being well-handicapped but ex-Aiden O'Brien inmate SEAN O'CASEY could be the exception on the evidence of his facile, gamble-landing victory at Yarmouth recently. He's been raised 7lb but, being a well-bred son of Galileo, there could be much more to come from him and he is in good hands. Roger Varian has his yard in superb form which points to a big run from the handicap debutant St Malo, meanwhile Dance King returned to form at Ripon recently and shapes as a possible player.
