Ended a barren spell when scoring at Fakenham last month and probably not suited by the way the race developed last time. One of the few arriving for this in decent form.
Pulled up on his return from a nine month absence and given a further three months off. Switches to hurdling and best watched until proving his wellbeing.
No win since 2015 (for Gordon Elliott) and in truth, hasn't looked like a winner in waiting on any of his last few starts. Continues to fall in the weights and new headgear configuration is tried.
Dual point-to-point winner in 2015, but 0-11 under rules since then. Made the frame at Chepstow but soon in trouble at Stratford next time and off the course since.
Has struggled over fences lately but showed his best form over hurdles on summer ground last year. Well weighted on those efforts but looked a tricky customer when third at Huntingdon in April.
Gradually dropping towards his last winning mark but best form has been shown with give underfoot and that looks unlikely here.
Has looked well handicapped for some time and signs were more encouraging in higher grade last time. Best efforts have come at this time of the year but, as a 21-race maiden tackling a new trip, he remains a risky proposition.
Found his level when upped in trip and dropped in grade last time. Has relatively few miles on the clock and a 6lb rise may not be enough to thwart his bid to follow up.
Struck form last autumn with back to back victories at Taunton and Exeter. Has been well below that form since and is dropping down the weights. Needs to prove he is as effective going left-handed and with new headgear combination.
14-race maiden who lacks scope. Soundly beaten in a moderate race last time which has earned him another fall in the weights. Cheekpieces go on and have proved ineffective on the Flat in the past.
Record of 2-41 with last win coming two years ago. Has performed to a more consistent level lately without possessing the pace to be a threat.
Veteran who has gone two years without a win. Last two victories have come under today's rider and best recent effort came over fences at Newton Abbot last month. Reverted to his consistently more moderate level of form next time.
Forecasts
Silent Man (9/2), Captain Flash (9/2), Blackfire (8/1), Charlie Parker (8/1), Thady Quil (9/1), Phare Isle (9/1), Be Seeing You (11/1), It's Oscar (12/1), Comical Red (12/1), Culm Counsellor (14/1), All But Grey (18/1), Part And Parcel (25/1)
Few of these are easy to win with or can be trusted to perform at a consistent standard. Thady Quill should be thereabouts judged on his form of a year ago which would have him on an attractive mark. He looked far from enthusiastic at Huntingdon last month and preference is for the two recent winners Phare Isle and SILENT MAN. The former landed a minor race at Fakenham before being forced to cut out the running next time. He is better suited to more patient handling and should find this race developing more to his liking. He is giving away five years and plenty of weight to SILENT MAN who won with something to spare at Uttoxeter last time. This looks no harder and, with few miles on the clock, he should be able to defy a 6lb rise.
- Silent Man
- Phare Isle
- Thady Quil
