Form has been patchy since his victory in the 2015 Grand Annual Chase. Third at Haydock last time behind Crookstown and was flattered by his proximity. Has run poorly on two previous starts here and was pulled up in this last year.
Goes well for today's rider and appreciates sound conditions. Likes to make the running and the presence of Next Sensation could make that problematic. Third in this twelve months ago off a 15lb lower mark. Has improved since, but probably not by that much.
Prone to errors but possesses a high cruising speed. Those traits evident when scoring at Haydock two weeks ago where he has idled once hitting the front. Holds Next Sensation on that run and yard's horses are worth following at the summer meetings here.
Has finished runner-up in three of his five starts in chases here. Impressive winner at Stratford a year ago off the same mark. That followed one run back from a layoff to put him straight and arrives having got as far as the third last 18 days ago. That was his second failure to complete in his last three starts but he is normally a sound jumper. Yard took this last year and are 9-29 in summer handicaps here.
Looks a long way below the horse we saw score at Stratford in 2015 but shaped well over hurdles at Ffos Las 17 days ago. Trainer 4-11 here with chasers for an 18 points profit, but only 5-76 with all runners since the start of the year and without a winner since March.
Out of his depth in this. Stable are 1-47 since the turn of the year and without a winner since February.
Forecasts
Crookstown (5/2), Next Sensation (7/2), No Likey (4/1), One Term (9/2), Foundation Man (7/1), Lettheriverrundry (9/1)
Foundation Man and Next Sensation will ensure a good gallop which will suit the strong travelling Crookstown. Ben Case's charge was always travelling strongly when collecting at Haydock last time to land the seventh race of his career. He remains a threat but preference is for NO LIKEY representing last year's winning trainer. He came to hand at this stage 12 months ago with an impressive 14L victory at Stratford and arrives on the same mark following a similar preparation.
- No Likey
- Crookstown
- Foundation Man
