Won Wexford Bumper last October. Improved hurdles effort on better ground over C&D last time so not ruled out of calculations in an ordinary contest. Does need more though to gain the day.
Landed soft ground staying maiden on Flat at Navan back in 2014 but has had training issues since. Went very close over timber in first time tongue-tie at Galway in the autumn so a leading contender, assuming he's fit and well.
Very little sign of ability on only start to date in modest Point-to-
point pulling up soon after halfway. Very hard to enthuse over.
Six-race maiden Flat performer although did hint at ability on a couple of occasions on testing ground. Hopes rest on change of code sparking a change of fortune and market may prove fair guide.
Poor maiden Point-to-pointer who pulled up in maiden hunter chase last time out. Offers very little encouragement in this company.
Tailed off on racing debut in Clonmel maiden hurdle in March. Shouldn't be written off yet, but hopes rest on better ground encouraging some degree of improvement on that first effort.
Winning Point-to-pointer who has run well on most starts over hurdles this season without managing to get his head in front. Didn't appear to last home over half mile further last time so drop back to minimum trip should help his cause.
Cheaply bought unfashionably bred gelding who showed very little on racecourse debut at Clonmel last week. Entitled to show some improvement with that experience behind him but others make much more appeal.
Interesting recruit to hurdles having shown ability in two starts on the Flat at middle distances. Represents top yard and wouldn't need to be a world beater to be in the thick of the action.
No market support and was never going well on debut at Clonmel in February. Shrewd yard may have found reason behind that poor run, but he has plenty to prove. Any market move, however, would be interesting.
Runner-up in mares maiden Point-to-point in April before low key rules debut when only 12th in a Tipperary bumper recently. Hurdles bow here and needs to show more than last time.
Behind in bumper on racecourse bow, then brought down at 3rd flight on hurdles bow at Punchestown earlier this week. Returns quickly, so clearly unscathed. Pedigree suggests she may be worth a second glance in the market.
Forecasts
Lettre de Cachet (9/10), Knockraha Boss (11/4), Play The Part (6/1), Poker Party (8/1), The Way It Is (25/1), Tay Lane (33/1), Flattothemat (33/1), Something Sweet (50/1), Lucky Robin (50/1), Howitsdone (50/1), Call His Bluff (100/1), Hybohemia (100/1)
LETTRE DE CACHET had been off for a long time before going close at Galway in the autumn and connections may have been waiting patiently for this better ground. All things considered he looks the one to beat if fit and well. Knockraha Boss might provide most danger to the selection having shaped well thorughout this term without managing to score. The drop back to two miles here should suit. Poker Party is another to consider on his hurdles debut having shown ability on the level, while Play the Part should find a race and cannot be ruled out of calculations.
- Lettre de Cachet
- Knockraha Boss
- Poker Party
