Continued in good form this year and has gone close in a couple of 6f handicaps at Ripon. Often travels strongly but a mark of 84 doesn't give him much scope against some of these.

Had a good winter on the AW at Newcastle running with credit and winning off a mark of 80 over 6f on his penultimate start. Disappointed here last time though (raced closer to pace than ideal) and reverts to turf for the first time this year off a mark of 82, 13lb above his last winning turf mark.

Yard are going well with sprinters of late and after a initial outing this year on the AW this one has run two very promising races at Doncaster and Wetherby. Beaten by some capable sprinters on each occasion. Off the same mark as last time he's very likely to be in the thick of the action again.

In good form of late winning his last two starts in lower grade races that have produced subsequent winners. Career best to win at Musselburgh last time but a further 3lb rise in the handicap forces him to produce another one to win here.

Back to winning ways on the AW at Wolverhampton last month and has won over C&D. Up 7lb for that win and this looks a far tougher contest.

Would need a very strongly run contest to make him fully effective over this trip after he won over 7f here last time out. Chances are that he still has some improvement in him off just a 3lb higher mark and if they went a real gallop he might be able to pick them up.

Forecasts

Straightothepoint (11/8), Tommy G (3/1), Royal Brave (5/1), Tylery Wonder (11/2), Rural Celebration (12/1), Aprovado (14/1), Invincible Ridge (14/1), Dark Defender (14/1)

Verdict

A decent sprint which looks sure to be run at a good gallop with competition for the early lead more than likely, as there are several that like to go forward and that could set this for a closer. Straightothepoint, Tylery Wonder and Aprovado are three of the likely pace pushers and that could help the dropped back in trip Tommy G although he’ll need a real pace collapse to figure back 2f in trip. Rural Celebration will appreciate the ease in grade and a chance is taken that the strong travelling ROYAL BRAVE can improve again and complete a fine hat-trick.
  1. Royal Brave
  2. Rural Celebration
  3. Tylery Wonder
