Taken on a new lease of life this year (much stronger horse) winning handicaps over C&D and at Dundalk last time. Goes for the hat-trick here and if given an easy lead may well be hard to peg back even off an increased mark.
Course regular who has won here seven times, scoring for the last time over C&D in October. Well beaten by Duncan Of Scotland last time and a lot to do to reverse the form with that one.
Still to win a race (0/27) and despite being placed on numerous occasions he really isn't one that you could rely on.
Looked at home when scoring on the Fibresand at Southwell in January and showed he was equally effective on turf with a third at Thirsk and would have a chance on that form.
Turf form leaves a lot to be desired having shown all his best form on the AW in handicaps and others would have a more solid chance.
Consistent sort and one for Placepot punters as he's rarely out of the frame and ran into a handicap blot in Longroom (winner again since) at Musselburgh. A repeat of that run would see him worthy of consideration but generally finds one too good.
Work to do with Lizzy's Dream at Musselburgh running, where she finished fifth but has run well here before over C&D.
Placed in this race last year but a record of 1/53 overall hardly inspires and finished well beaten behind Duncan Of Scotland last time.
Back from a long break this season but has shown very little so far and well beaten by Duncan Of Scotland last time and makes little appeal overall.
A mark of 48 basically sums her up having been placed a few times in AW maidens but handicap efforts leave a lot to be desired.
Finished well beaten and last in his final two runs of 2016 and showed no improvement at all on his seasonal reappearance for a yard that is struggling for winners and form at the moment.
Forecasts
Duncan Of Scotland (6/5), Scotch Myst (9/4), Backinanger (12/1), Goninodaethat (14/1), Ss Vega (14/1), Little Belter (14/1), Lizzy's Dream (16/1), Guiding Star (28/1), New Decade (33/1), Spoken Words (50/1), Warleggan (100/1)
This isn’t a strong contest and DUNCAN OF SCOTLAND is in good form, if he repeats the form that he showed here last time he could well repeat the hat-trick. Solid opposition is thin on the ground with Lizzy’s Dream looking one who could bustle up the likely market leader especially as he’s a consistent sort. Goninodaethat can never be left out around his “home” course and Scotch Myst may well be the one who provides the most danger after his good third at Thirsk last time.
- Duncan Of Scotland
- Scotch Myst
- Goninodaethat
