Hooded on debut from a yard that have a good record in this race having won it twice in the past few years most notably with The Wow Signal in 2014. Stoutly bred and may need further in time but respected given the connections. Topped the sales at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up.
Stable have only had the one juvenile winner so far this year. This one is a half-brother to six winners most notably Chookie Royale (Listed AW winner) who could be a bit temperamental but this one is reported to be more straightforward.
Cost 6,500 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to a one mile AW winner Whispered Kiss. Dam 1m-1m2f winner but looks the second string for the yard on jockey bookings.
Price increased from a foal to a yearling and he's a brother to a couple of winners including Kommader Kirkup (5-6f winner). Yard are 1/6 with their juveniles so far this year and he looks the pick of their duo.
Cost €49,000 as a yearling and is from the first and only crop of former top sprinter Society Rock. Half-brother to three winners at up to a mile, with the dam a juvenile 7f winner. Well bred sort from a yard who do well in this sphere although they have only had a couple winners this year.
Price increased some €30,000 from a foal to a yearling and is out of a one-raced dam who is closely related to a smart winner over 6f. Yard know how to handle juveniles and have had three two-year-old winners this year including the impressive Havana Gold who won here at the last meeting.
Cheekpieces now tried for one who failed to impress on his debut at Doncaster when he proved very difficult and barely went a yard.
Has some fancy entries later in the year (Sales races) but failed to impress on his initial start over 5f here recently. Should be able to do better in time but faces some potentially smart rivals.
Speedily bred sort who was poorly drawn on his debut over 5f showing obvious signs of greenness. Would need to improve a great deal to make an impression.
Went with little encouragement on her debut over 6f at Naas looking very green and showing little to get excited about in the future.
Twice-raced filly who could put her experience to good use after showing promise in two 5f contests of late. Needs to be able to cope with the extra furlong but an obvious danger to all. On her third run, with the yard seemingly taking a little more time with their juveniles this year.
Forecasts
Bustam (7/2), Noble Manners (7/2), Myboyhenry (4/1), Mont Kinabalu (9/2), Chookie Dunedin (10/1), Columbia Kid (14/1), Jackontherocks (16/1), John Kirkup (18/1), Sam James (28/1), Sir Walter (33/1), Primo's Comet (80/1)
Trainers John Quinn, Kevin Ryan and Mark Johnston have plenty of history with this event with Quinn producing the best winner from the race with The Wow Signal in 2014. He once again looks to have a good individual for this race in Bustam although the use of the hood on his first run is slightly off putting. Noble Manners is another worthy of respect with her experience likely to be an asset here but she might run into a couple of others useful individuals here in Myboyhenry and MONT KINABALU. The latter is well-bred and expected to go well on his debut with a yard that do well with their juveniles here.
- Mont Kinabalu
- Bustam
- Noble Manners
