Not beaten far over C&D when third to Via Via in March, and went onto score the following month at Musselburgh (7F). Not quite so sharp since, but better can be expected on his return to this track (twice placed on Tapeta here).

A grand campaigner down the years, winning 15 times from 83 starts on the AW but generally best served by running over 1m. On the premises despite finishing fifth at Chelmsford latest to Welliesinthewater, but so far less effective on Tapeta.

100% on the AW for previous trainer Roger Varian (2 from 2), but disappointed on turf last season for this yard after joining for 22,000 gns. Nearly back to his last winning mark (over 7F) and the yard are flying of late.

Loves Fibresand, and has won on five of his last six visits to Southwell this winter, which has resulted in his mark rising by 20lb. Has raced fairly reliably on other surfaces during that time (including here) but not as strikingly as at Southwell, so a shade vulnerable.

50% strike rate at Newcastle (3 from 6), and has won over both 7F and 1m. Goes well for this rider, and was just touched off from a similar mark by Chaplin Bay here on Good Friday, and back from a spin on turf should run his race.

Stablemate of Inaam and also a C&D winner in November 2016 (beat Holiday Magic). Probably fair to say he's not gone on from that victory (especially lately) but in mitigation he has held decent company, so couldn't be discounted from this mark at this track.

6L Chelmsford maiden winner on his second start in December 2015 (7F), he ran well back from a break when fourth to Bacchus at Newbury last month. That contest was a Class 2 event and this is a grade lower, so holds an obvious chance if untroubed by Tapeta.

Once with Charles Hills and initially did well switched to this yard, winning a C&D handicap in October (beat My Dad Syd by a neck). However, has taken a few backward steps since and this looks fairly competitive.

A three time career winner from eight starts, including on his last two outings at Lingfield and Brighton (both over 1m). Turned out quickly under a penalty for that latest success last week (first start as a gelding), and already twice a runner up at this track. A drop in trip at this stiff track should be fine.

Forecasts

Omran (4/5), Inaam (6/1), Morning Suit (6/1), Twin Appeal (9/1), Custard The Dragon (12/1), Young John (16/1), Amood (20/1), Loyalty (33/1), Majdool (66/1)

Verdict

A good little race, but OMRAN and Morning Suit promise to be the key players. The selection has his whole career in front of him, and should go onto better things judged upon his fine handicap debut at Newbury last month. However, stiff competition will come from the recently gelded Mark Johnston hat-trick seeker Morning Suit who is turned out quickly under a penalty for last week's decisive success on the Brighton downs.
  1. Omran
  2. Morning Suit
  3. Inaam
