Winning point-to-pointer who was formerly a decent handicap hurdler but whose form regressed under Rules (often raced lazily and jumped poorly). Now with a new yard and that will have to rekindle him for him to have a chance here.
Often held-up and travels well but better known as a chaser although he reverted to the smaller obstacles last time off a much lower hurdles mark. Just 4lb higher now and hard to rule out over a trip that he should enjoy and his regular pilot retaking the ride.
Failure to complete in two of his last three outings tempers enthusiasm especially as he was well-held last time out. Did win this last year from a 7lb higher mark and respected on that effort.
Yard are a little quiet at the moment and this one suffered a fall last time out when running well (second start in a handicap) Ran far too free in first-time cheekpieces on his handicap debut and hard to say he's progressive based on his previous record.
Improving sort over fences and won back-to-back events in that sphere at Leicester and Hereford having scored over hurdles previously. Based on his last run he looks as though he's worth a try at this trip and likely to give his running here.
The fall he suffered over fences after his hurdles win appears to have rocked his confidence a little with his recent hurdles starts being underwhelming. The usual hood (left off last time) returns here.
Winner over fences and hurdles but since his last chase win (June 2016) he's been disappointing even off a break last time out. Looked very laboured and hard work at Towcester and would need to show more to take a hand here.
Consistent sort who won three times during the last campaign and has made the frame in each of his last five starts. Creeping up the weights without winning but should run his usual sound race but may find one better again.
Yard don't have that many runners at this time of the year and this one hasn't really come on since winning a bumper back in 2014 on his debut. Market may be the best guide here.
The handicap mark is plummeting but only on occasions has he looked like taking advantage having been capable of some decent form in the past. Well below form last timeout and makes little appeal here even off the declining mark.
Forecasts
Crown Hill (9/2), Tea Time Fred (11/2), Sun Cloud (7/1), Stay Out Of Court (7/1), Horace Hazel (15/2), Generous Chief (8/1), Mighty Leader (17/2), Mont Choisy (10/1), First Fandango (10/1), Becauseshesaidso (16/1)
A competitive heat where there is not one with a clear cut chance Stay Out Of Court looks as though he has a race of this type in him but has to bounce back from a fall last time out with his yard a little quiet. SUN CLOUD and Crown Hill are predominantly chasers but both look relatively at home over hurdles and should run sound races wit the former still looking to have a good chance of following up his win. Generous Chief is a consistent sort who looks one for the places with Tea Time Fred respected as a winner of this race last year.
- Sun Cloud
- Generous Chief
- Crown Hill
