In good heart and fully deserved to get his head in front at Wetherby last time out. Considering that he's won from a mark as high as 102 in the past, his revised rating - under a 6lb penalty - still looks fairly lenient. Worth a check in the betting at least.
For all he's been a good servant to his connections, he's still only won four of his previous 45 races on turf and often needs his mind making up for him. Very possible the cheekpieces with offer a solution this afternoon. But never been one to trust implicitly and the dip in recent form combined with resorting to headgear suggests he may be losing a little interest.
Won on soft ground at Newmarket last summer but found things much tougher after reassessment. Closely matched with Lucky Beggar but has fared a little more favourably with the draw. Dangerous to dismiss.
Has done the rounds as far as stables are concerned and it may be simply a case of a new environment rekindles his interest. He does go well fresh so his absence since September isn't too much of a concern. His new yard has been very quiet of late, though, which has to be more of a worry.
Won a maiden followed by a couple of novice stakes but has never managed to get his head in front in a handicap. Needs a bit of give underfoot, so should at least appreciate the ground but hard to fancy on recent AW form.
Unexposed but was disappointing on his handicap debut and doesn't look especially well treated on these terms. His current trainer is noted for revitalising horses that have lost their way, so he may be just at the start of a long-term project.
From a stable that has won this twice in the last ten years but something of a leap of faith is required after failing to impress in either of his two starts since joining the new regime.
Exploited the best of the draw bias to win in good style at Beverley last time out. This is a different ball game and he needs to dig deeper than he has before if he's going to cope with his 6lb penalty.
Appeals on the best of his efforts and is well drawn; so feasible he could make the most of a handy looking mark. Stable has been notably quiet though.
A tough little filly that should be suited by the ground conditions. Stable's small number of runners have been holding their own and, given that she is only 2lb higher than her last winning mark, this could be the time to give her another chance. Place claims at least.
Joined his current yard as part of the dispersal of David Nichols' string and should strip fitter after his debut run for the yard. very well handicapped on old form and is ideally berthed if he can turn back the clock.

Henley (3/1), Lucky Beggar (10/3), Fruit Salad (11/2), Pearl Acclaim (6/1), Major Pusey (7/1), Desert Ace (8/1), Swirral Edge (10/1), Dinneratmidnight (12/1), Bogart (14/1), Quick Look (14/1), Elysian Flyer (16/1), Sumou (25/1), Lexi's Hero (40/1)
Assuming SWIRRAL EDGE breaks on terms with the rest, she can't have any grumbles and has sound claims at the weights. The filly is worth a speculative investment at the predicted odds in what is a wide-open handicap. Others to consider include: Lucky Beggar, who is back on a very lenient mark despite being set to carry a penalty for winning at Wetherby, while Major Pusey has the benefit of a handy draw and also makes the shortlist. Henley, on the other hand, was the beneficiary of the stalls bias when scoring in bloodless style at Beverley and now needs a little luck on his side in this tougher looking contest. Bogart is unpredictable but does have a habit of cropping up every now and then, so, odds permitting, may be worth a saver for one of the places .
- Swirral Edge
- Lucky Beggar
- Major Pusey
