Made good progress from his debut to win on his second start a Lingfield 7f AW maiden by a ½ L. May have been unlucky on his handicap debut to into one who was thrown in and was well held last time out on his first start this year and looks to have a bit to do off a mark of 72.

Made a promising start as a juvenile when first home of the unraced ones in a 7f maiden at Newmarket in October when a well-backed favourite. Not seen again until gaining a win on the Fibresand over a mile in April showing a good attitude to score by a short head. Boasts plenty of stamina in the pedigree and could well need further than this mile as she enters handicaps for the first time.

Gradually dropped in trip in juvenile maidens with his form not really progressing and looked a hard rode on occasions. His two runs this year both in handicaps off this mark haven't really impressed and he looks as though he may struggle to stay a mile (ran very free last time out).

Maiden win came in a small-field AW affair over a mile (didn't look the easiest ride under pressure). This initial mark of 69 looks rather tough though and she may need dropping a few pounds before she is effective in handicaps.

Debut run on the AW over 6f always made him look one for the longer term and handicaps. Tried over a mile and 1m2f in handicaps so far this year but has shown little so far and others make more appeal here.

Never really threatened to take a hand in maidens last year with a fifth at Kempton Park on the AW her best run so far over 7f. This will be her handicap debut but based on her form so far a mark of 66 doesn't look to be that generous.

May well have had the run of the race when making a winning handicap debut last year at Kempton Park over a mile when making all. Certainly bred for stamina so might have to be positively ridden again here as he makes his first start of the year.

Despite being placed in his four handicaps he has looked a rather quirky sort with his finishing effort leaving something to be desired on a couple of occasions. Would not have been suited by the way the race worked out last time (wore blinkers for first-time; dispensed with here) and it could be that he's better over slightly shorter.

Started at big prices in all three maiden starts with those races just designed to gain her a mark for handicaps. Not tried over this far yet but looks as though a mile will hold no fears as she goes into handicaps.

Nursery winner at Chelmsford last year (race has produced subsequent winners) on his first start for this yard (formerly with Mark Johnston). Not suited by the way the race panned out on his only start as a three-year-old over 7f at Lingfield (denied a run and finished with running left) and runs off the same mark here returning to turf.

Forecasts

Bruny Island (11/4), Passcode (10/3), Al Mansor (9/2), Love Power (6/1), Daimochi (7/1), Still Waiting (15/2), Channel Packet (10/1), Rake's Progress (12/1), Claire's Secret (14/1), Northdown (20/1), Oh It's Saucepot (25/1), Lady Kaviar (33/1)

Verdict

This looks a slightly deeper division of this three-year-old handicap and even more complicated to work out with plenty that have chances and few that can be ruled out. Bruny Island needs respecting after his last run as does Daimochi who looks as though he will be better over further . Al Mansor was a beaten favourite last time out and probably needs to settle better to be seen to his full potential while Love Power is respected given his connections. With the Balding team striking form though PASSCODE looks worth siding with here on her handicap debut and the turf likely to suit a little better than the Fibresand she won on last time.
