Tailed off last of eleven on debut at Hamilton earlier this month (over an extended mile). Out of his depth tonight.
Runner up to Happy Hollow on bumper debut at Wetherby in March 2016, but no promise in three further starts in that sphere, and zero from two on the Flat, looking well out of his depth dropped to 7F tonight.
15 attempts to break the maiden tag and despite some reasonable runs in C&D handicaps, this looks a tough task in concession of weight to more upwardly mobile three-year-old's.
Slowly away and green throughout, but signs of some ability late in the day when a staying on fifth to Benbatl in a 7F Doncaster maiden last month. Switches to Tapeta, but ideally this race could've done with being over 1m plus.
Beaten 2½L by the Aidan O'Brien trained Peace Envoy on debut at Dundalk in April 2016 (5F) for previous trainer David Wachman. Not seen on a racecourse since, gelded and switched stables, but a half-brother to eight winners who cost €125,000 has to make the short-list, especially with a leading rider travelling up from York for the mount.
Unraced third living foal by Mayson out of Italian winning mare Mia Diletta. Well related, half-brother to 2016 Italian 2000 Guineas winner Poeta Diletto so could make his mark on debut over a trip which should suit.
Seven attempts to shed the maiden tag and competitive enough in handicap company recently, but rated just 75, it'll be a major surprise if one or two of the less exposed types don't prove too strong.
Shaped with clear promise in a reasonably strong 6F maiden on debut here in November, but has bombed out badly (last) in both starts on turf this year, looking very weak in terms of her finishing effort.

The short-list appears rather obvious. David Simcock has sent plenty of nice horses to Newcastle during the past twelve months of racing on Tapeta, and the gelded HUGIN gets the vote on stable debut. He still has time on his side, and despite leaving the care of David Wachman, he has joined another astute handler, and it's notable that Jamie Spencer travels North from York to ride. Mio Ragazzo has a strong Italian pedigree and is much respected for Marco Botti, as is Katheef (Mark Johnston).
