Not really one that looks particularly straightforward and now goes over fences having failed to impress over hurdles in recent runs. Top weight gives him a tough enough task here.
His profile over hurdles has been rather in-and-out with some tame finishes on his CV bit this is a drop in grade as he makes his debut over fences. Does have some winning form in point-to-points and the switch to fences may draw out some further improvement.
The question is can he follow-up his win from Kelso off a reduced mark off just a 2lb higher mark where he beat a confirmed weak finisher. Has scope to do better off this mark but hasn't been the most consistent in the past.
Switches to chasing after looking very limited over hurdles although this mark isn't an onerous one if this switch brings about some improvement.
Until his last run at Hexham there looked to be little to work with over fences. Did show a little more there though but more still needed to make an impression in this.
Showed plenty of improvement on his second start over fences when winning at Taunton (weak handicap). Travelled well in that and doesn't have that many miles on the clock and could still have some improvement left in him over fences.
Jumping has been more miss than hit throughout his chasing career and supporters will be watching this with hands over their eyes. Has won over fences off a much higher mark but usually blights his chance with a mistake at a crucial moment.
Goes chasing for the first time in a bid to rejuvenate her career which has been in freefall of late but her hurdling form has little to recommend her.
Continues to fall down the weights and has shown some glimmers of ability over fences (often pulls too hard) but this minimum trip will suit and not totally written off at a likely big price.
Forecasts
Welcome Ben (4/1), Get Ready Freddy (4/1), Clan Chief (5/1), Tambour Major (6/1), Here Comes Love (8/1), Miss Joeking (10/1), The Pierre Lark (11/1), Fred Le Macon (12/1), Fire Rock (20/1)
Not a particularly solid bunch over fences with consistent profiles rather lacking and that may give GET READY FREDDY a chance to follow up his Taunton win as he looks to have some more improvement in him. The Pierre Lark generally travels well in his races but does have trouble finishing them off while there are question marks about Welcome Ben being able to repeat his Kelso win. Clan Chief is now off a basement mark but his jumping is clearly a problem while Tambour Major is capable of a big run if he settles better over the minimum trip.
- Get Ready Freddy
- The Pierre Lark
- Tambour Major
