Winner of his first two starts this year and not disgraced in better company last time. Tackles a new distance here with stamina doubts on the dam's side of the pedigree. Further rain would raise concerns.

Looks the type to do better now handicapping but concerns as to whether she will stay this far. Yard are 0-51 with their three-year-olds this term.

Has one standout piece of form to her name when having the run of the race in a small field Ffos Las maiden. Failed to build on that though and makes her handicap debut here off a mark that looks a little high on what she has achieved.

Landed some good bets when dead-heating on his handicap debut last month. Will have more to prove up a further 5lb in the weights and over a trip which will test his stamina, particularly if the forecast rain turns the ground softer.

Promise in a couple of maidens during the winter whilst alway looking the type to do better over middle-distances when handicapping. Trainer has a 8-32 record at the C&D so one to note in pre-race trading.

Ruined his chances by blowing the start in all his races for William Knight last season. Shapes as though this longer trip will suit. There was support for him prior to his withdrawal at Bath last week.

Half-brother That Man Of Mine won a couple of 1m4f races on the AW for Jamie Osborne. No show in three starts in maidens so far and makes handicap debut for a yard who are 9-158 with their Flat runners in the past five seasons.

Wolverhampton winner who ran as though something was amiss last time. Back from a break and over a trip which his pedigree indicates is outside his range.

Further change in headgear tried now upped significantly in trip. Does not have much to find if confounding a pedigree which suggests he should get little beyond 7f.

Best effort came over this trip at Kempton in February although he did look a tricky ride. Left that same impression next time and off the course three months since. Has moved to Dan Skelton from Andrew Balding but still looks one to be wary of.

Finished ahead of Perla Blanca at Kempton. Could be a different story if this places more emphasis on stamina and with that rival's yard in good form.

Facing a stiff task from out of the weights, having finished out of the frame on each start to date. Pedigree shows the trip is on the long side too.

Verdict

Cape Cruiser and Perla Blanca are lightly raced types who appeal as the sorts to be winning races such as this during the coming months. Both hail from yards that have been going well lately and with good C&D records. A few of these bring stamina doubts into this, notably London Master and Plato's Kode. The former was well supported before dead-heating on his reappearance and the latter is on a good handicap mark if the gamble of a significantly longer trip proves well founded. EOLIAN represents another yard that do well around here and it is worth noting there was off-course support for him prior to a late withdrawal at Bath last week on account of the fast going. He hampered himself when mistiming the break last season but that should be less of an issue now switching to middle-distances.
  1. Eolian
  2. Perla Blanca
  3. Cape Cruiser
