Flattered to deceive a little as a juvenile but has opened up this season with two solid placed efforts, most recently over 1m1f (good to firm) at Mussleburgh. Raised 2lb but longer trip expected to suit. Looks a player.
Twice a winner on the AW at Newcastle last autumn and just touched off in both turf starts this season, most recently by Teodoro at Redcar (1m1f, good to firm). No reason for him not to be competitive once again.
Musselburgh maiden winner (7f, good) but finding life tougher in handicaps so far, finishing stone last over an extended 7f here (good to firm) last time out. Mark is coming down though, and this longer trip may unlock improvement.
Off the mark in a weak fibresand maiden at Southwell last month and followed that by finishing a fine third behind Alfred Richardson over 1m at Pontefract on her handicap debut, shaping as though this longer trip is what she wants. Should figure.
Glimpses of promise in maidens over 1m before finishing third on his handicap debut over 1m4f at Lingfield earlier this month. Drop in trip shouldn't be an inconvenience and hails from a yard in red-hot form. Entitled to respect.
Best effort in maidens was when third over 1m4f on the AW at Newcastle in March but he was soundly beaten behind Canberra Cliffs on his handicap debut over 1m2f at Nottingham (good to firm) and has only been dropped 1lb. More needed.
Form in Irish maidens was modest and has shown little sign of improvement since switching yards finishing a 10L seventh of nine behind Atteq on his handicap debut over an extended 7f here (good to firm). Others preferred as he steps up in trip.
Much-improved when just touched off at Redcar (1m, good to firm) on his final juvenile start but well behind Ronnie The Rooster when making a seasonal return at Pontefract (1m, good to firm). Better expected over this stiffer test with a run under his belt.
Largely unconvincing but clear signs of improvement in first-time blinkers at Redcar last time when a staying on fourth behind Rita's Man over 1m (good to firm). Surprising to see the headgear discarded here but dangerous to dismiss.
Forecasts
Ronnie The Rooster (9/4), Jamacho (9/2), The Raven Master (11/2), Reinstorm (8/1), Hugging The Rails (9/1), Tewafeedj (9/1), Copper Baked (12/1), Geophony (12/1), Pindaric (20/1)
Jamacho, Ronnie The Rooster and Copper Baked have each advertised their present well-being recently and all ought to be competitive in this tough handicap. But, with Michael Bell's yard in such red-hot form, it may pay to side with his lone Newmarket raider, THE RAVEN MASTER, who shaped as though this trip could be ideal when just running out of steam over further at Lingfield last time.
- The Raven Master
- Copper Baked
- Jamacho
