Has recorded all six of his wins over 6f and been a consistent performer in these sort of contests, though has yet to get truly competitive in two starts this term. Handicapper looks to have his measure for the moment and looks as though he will find one or two too good.

Has not got his nose in front since doing so on debut at Sandown two years ago when with Hugo Palmer. Nice return run at Pontefract from this mark last time on his first start for this yard. Wouldn't rule him out of being competitive again now, though his CV suggests that he will probably need a further drop.

Went close to winning from this mark and over this trip at Chelmsford in March and not disgraced from 2lb higher next time. Both turf wins in Ireland were on good ground, but handles faster well enough and could go well if overcoming poor draw.

Sole success was in a Catterick maiden a year ago (7f, good to soft) and has gone close enough from slightly higher marks than today's in handicaps at Thirsk and back at Catterick last time to suggest that his next win will not be too long in coming. Claims.

Versatile trip-wise, having won over 1m and 1m2f before dropping back to score over today's distance at Newcastle in December. Well held on all three starts so far this year from just 1lb higher, however and has not yet produced his best on fast ground, so perhaps best watched today.

Although his optimum trip looks to be 1m, he is effective over 7f and on fast ground. Ran well from 1lb lower at Pontefract last time, but creeping back up by 1lb won't help and despite first-time visor he has not been good enough to win from this mark for a long time.

Has won over today's trip a couple of times when the going has been good to soft and it is the forecast ground that has to be a concern for her as she hasn't yet produced her best on a fast surface. She also goes into this from 8lb higher than her best win and although she might compete it is hard to see her winning.

Won a Leicester auction maiden (7f, good) in 2015 when first with Tom Tate and ran well enough to be beaten 2L in a handicap from 2lb higher at Leicester in July (good to firm), having moved to Ivan Furtado. Now back with his original trainer and was last of 18, beaten 20L back at Leicester last time, so looks best watched.

Won this race last year from 1lb higher and has been went on to win at Musselburgh over the same trip from a mark of 78. Looks well in on that basis, though recent form has been poor. Stable back among the winners and has a decent draw here too, so today could be the day.

Sole win was at Leopardstown over this trip in 2015 from 8lb higher. Went with some credit a couple of times from higher marks before being gelded and changing to current yard. Unable to show a similar level of form either over hurdles or on the Flat and now drops back markedly in trip. Market check advised.

Was once good enough to win an Ascot handicap over this trip from a mark of 95, but that was his last of six wins and came four years ago. Yet to show anything for current yard despite continued slide in the weights and yet to win when fresh, so looks one to watch this time.

4lb higher today than his only win in 19 outings and is an inconsistent performer. First-time blinkers on this afternoon, but needs to do more to be winning again here.

Dual winner over this trip, including on the forecast ground and is now 9lb lower than when winning for the last time at Kempton 18 months ago. Lost form when with Richard Hannon and showed nothing on first start for current yard at Leicester last month and very hard to recommend him today.

Has scored twice over this trip at Wolverhampton but still seeking his first win on turf after 26 attempts. Still on a stiff enough mark despite that and looks very much up against it from a wide draw.

Goes into this from 1lb lower than when scoring at Ayr in August (6f, good to soft). Stamina not a problem as she has won over 1m, but her ability to handle the forecast quicker ground has to be a concern.

12-race maiden who came closest to breaking her duck over this trip at Newcastle in November from today's mark. Possibilities from a good draw if able to reproduce that, so if better for recent return run he is not without a chance.

Forecasts

Zodiakos (5/1), Dutch Artist (11/2), Kirkham (15/2), Tellovoi (10/1), Enjoy Life (10/1), Like No Other (12/1), Royal Connoisseur (12/1), Amood (14/1), Specialv (14/1), Slemy (14/1), Intensical (20/1), Steal The Scene (20/1), Theodorico (22/1), Cliff (25/1), Redvers (25/1), Le Roi Du Temps (33/1)

Verdict

Plenty of questions to be answered here including whether Intensical can handle this draw, because if he can then he has claims on some prize money. Dutch Artist is another who could go very well, while Kirkham is another for whom success would not surprise. However, the suggestion is SLEMY, who is a dual C&D scorer, including in this race last year from a 1lb higher mark. He is well drawn today and after some poor recent form he should also go off at a decent price.
  1. Slemy
  2. Intensical
  3. Dutch Artist
