Indietirt1162
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-6| J: B J Cooper| T: T Cooper| OR:  134
33/1
Three-times winner in France, but flopped on his one start for Dan Skelton and runs for a new stable in this. Hard to know what to expect.
3
Horse silk
Swamp Foxb15
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: B Browne(7)| T: J G Murphy| OR:  133

Velvet Maker58
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: D F O'Regan| T: A Fleming| OR:  131
20/1
Better chaser than hurdler, but ran well in a quite valuable Leopardstown handicap hurdle in February and has claims off this rating.
5

After Rainh15
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: Mark Walsh| T: J R Barry| OR:  129
4/1
Knocking on the door recently, especially when a close fourth in a big handicap hurdle at Punchestown last month. Major contender.

Light That19
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-1| J: R M Power| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  129
7/1
Second of 11 in a valuable handicap hurdle at Punchestown last month. Has leading claims on that effort and his stable continues to be in great form.
7
Horse silk
Moonday Sun212
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR:  129
25/1
Progressive for Nigel Twiston-Davies, he has his first run for his top stable. Had an impossible task at the weights last time and should make his presence felt if fit enough after a lay-off.
8
Horse silk
The Plan Mant14
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: D N Russell| T: A J Martin| OR:  128
25/1
On a long, losing sequence, but will have been sharpened up by a couple of recent Flat outings and stable is always to be respected in these races.
9
Horse silk
Chambord Du Lysh126
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| OR:  127
8/1
Not disgraced on handicap debut last time and represents a top stable, but others look more battle-hardened for this sort of contest. Wears a hood for the first time.
10
Horse silk
Lagostovegas91
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-10| J: Ruby Walsh| T: W P Mullins| OR:  124
5/2
Represents her leading stable for the first time and looks the yard's number one given her jockey booking.
11
Horse silk
Agent Boru28
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-9| J: J M Moore| T: T Gibney| OR:  123
25/1
Consistent novice who makes his handicap debut. Others make more appeal.
12
Horse silk
Owen Na Viewb155
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: Alain Cawley| T: F O'Brien| OR:  123
66/1
English raider who is better known for his exploits over fences. Likely to find a few of these too speedy.
13
Horse silk
St Stephens Green26
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-7| J: D J Mullins| T: E Mullins| OR:  121
16/1
Dundalk AW Flat win preceded poor effort in a Fairyhouse handicap hurdle. Plenty to prove on the back of that.
14
Horse silk
Lilshane17
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-5| J: M A Enright| T: T P O'Connor| OR:  119
50/1
Last win came in March, 2016, yet he remains 10 pounds higher. Readily opposed on that basis.
15
Horse silk
Le Vagabond17
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-4| J: A E Lynch| T: E J O'Grady| OR:  118
7/1
Joint favourite when beaten a long way at Punchestown last time and needs to bounce back to figure.
16

Dodgybingob12
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-3| J: Sean Flanagan| T: N Meade| OR:  125
11/1
Made all to win well at Ballinrobe last time and has to be respected despite a 9lb rise in the weights.
17

Age: 4|  Weight: 10-1| J: Rachael Blackmore(3)| T: J J Hanlon| OR:  123
14/1
Beaten 6l by Dodgybingo last time and is only 2lb better off. Unlikely to turn the tables.
18

Forecasts

Lagostovegas (5/2), After Rain (4/1), Le Vagabond (7/1), Light That (7/1), Chambord Du Lys (8/1), Look Closer (10/1), The Last Marju (10/1), Dodgybingo (11/1), Runyon Rattler (12/1), Linger (14/1), St Stephens Green (16/1), Velvet Maker (20/1), Pivot Bridge (20/1), The Plan Man (25/1), Moonday Sun (25/1), Agent Boru (25/1), Tigris River (33/1), Indietir (33/1), Swamp Fox (40/1), Lilshane (50/1), Owen Na View (66/1)

Verdict

A cracking handicap in which a case can be made for many of the runners. Lagostovegas is a fascinating contender on her first start for her top trainer, while the same applies to Moonday Sun, who had no chance at the weights against a progressive type last time and runs for new connections. However, LIGHT THAT ran a fine race at Punchestown last time and can continue the terrific form of his stable. Velvet Maker, who is off a lower rating than his chase mark, can make a bold bid, along with After Rain.
  1. Light That
  2. Moonday Sun
  3. Velvet Maker
