Was in command when toppling over at the last on his hurdling debut in January and has been given plenty of time to recover. Had shown a fair standard of ability in bumpers prior to that and he is clearly the one to beat with his stable in excellent form.
Half-brother to the very useful Mount Mews. Looked unlucky when falling on point-to-point debut and not disgraced next time. Interesting hurdling debutant and one to note in pre-race trading.
Best effort came in a slowly run Stratford bumper last June when wearing a hood for the first time. Has shown glimpses of ability since but his future will probably lie in handicaps.
Has taken a keen hold on his last two starts and was only just denied in a tight finish last time. Showed clear signs of progress that day and capable of more if stable jockey can force him to settle.
Has been supported in previous starts as though possessing the ability to win a race such as this. Has looked short of stamina but this looks easier than some of his recent tests.
Irish point-to-point winner in February and changed hands since for £5,500. Related to several winners over hurdles and shaped encouragingly on first run for new trainer. Gave the impression that day he might need more of a stamina test than will be provided here.
Finished 30L behind Indian Reel at Market Rasen last time. That was his first run over hurdles and followed and eight month break. Entitled to improve for that run but may need more of a trip before revealing his true colours.
Winner of a weak bumper two years ago and has been difficult to train since. Refused to race last time and therefore one to treat with caution.
€12,000 purchase who has been off the track since making most of the running at Worcester last summer. That form does not leave him with a lot to find and the market will reveal how ready he is for this.
Forecasts
Get Rhythm (6/4), Black Mischief (15/8), Focaccia (7/2), Chozen (14/1), Cosmic King (16/1), Walk Waterford (33/1), Indian Reel (33/1), Morthanalegend (50/1), Kings Temptation (66/1)
Chozen is an interesting recruit for a race that will take little winning and a market move for him would make him all the more interesting. Tim Vaughan's charge was an unlucky loser of a point-to-point when coming to grief when travelling well. Focaccia and Get Rhythm have proven form, albeit at a modest standard. The former sees the stable jockey taking the reins for the first time over hurdles and that may produce further improvement. BLACK MISCHIEF was unfortunate not to break his duck at Wincanton last time in what looked a stronger race than this. The five-year-old had the race sewn up before falling at the last and this should be his opportunity to gain compensation.
- Black Mischief
- Focaccia
- Get Rhythm
