All or nothing profile with a Lingfield AW win sandwiched between two flops on turf. Has top weight on a surface on which he has beaten only one of 20 rivals, so not hard to oppose.
Won once, at this track, in five starts as a juvenile for Mark Johnston, but beat only one rival over C&D on his debut for his new yard last month, Needs to get back on track if he is to justify his 30,000 guineas purchase price.
Showed little on his first three outings as a juvenile before shaping a little better in his final start at Newcastle in October. Stable's inmates tend to improve steadily with age, but this colt might just need this first run of the season.
Best of three runs came when second at Chelmsford in March, but he was not disgraced at Newbury last time and runs in a handicap for the first time. Nicely bred and could make an impact off a feasible mark.
Promise in four runs as a juvenile, but looks high enough in the weights and may need this first run following a lay-off.
No wins from 11 starts, but has shown ability on several occasions without suggesting he is a winner waiting to happen off this mark. The step up in trip might help, though, so not ruled out.
Yet to finish in the first three in four starts, but was not beaten far when fourth of eight at Haydock last time, running on well to suggest this trip should suit. Each-way claims.
Gelded after two ordinary runs as a juvenile, he reappeared at Leicester where he did not get a clear passage and was a never-nearer sixth of 12 in maiden company. Could be well weighted in his first handicap.
Four runs so far, the last of which was her best. The bare form of that Beverley run gives her a shout, but there may be some better handicapped horses lurking in this.
Looked a weak finisher over 1m 4f, so it was no surprise to see him dropped to this trip when second at Goodwood last time. Ran well there and, if building on that off a 4lb higher mark, could be hard to beat for a stable which does well with its three-year-old handicappers.
Only glimpses of ability in five starts so far, but he gets in off bottom weight and has time on his side for his top jumps trainer. Did not get the best of runs on his reappearance at Doncaster, so enters calculations.
Forecasts
Alexander M (11/4), Lunar Jet (3/1), City Dreamer (6/1), Chocolate Box (8/1), Nathan Mayer (10/1), Glorvina (14/1), Zehrah (16/1), Glorious Power (16/1), Challow (16/1), See The City (22/1), Solent Meads (33/1)
It is not easy to get a handle on one or two of these so a little guesswork is needed and the suggestion is NATHAN MAYER, who has surely not revealed his true ability so far and could be well in for his leading trainer. Alexander M and bottom weight City Dreamer also catch the eye, while Challow may apprciate this stiffer test of stamina.
- Nathan Mayer
- Alexander M
- Challow
