First start since joining current connections for 11,000 gns in the autumn. Showed promise on good ground at Deauville on his second start in France (1m2f). Takes a marked drop in trip here, but is a half-brother to two winners over this trip and out of a 7f-1m1f winning mare, including at Listed level. Market check advised.

Made a quiet debut last year but returned with a decent effort when beaten under 2L at Doncaster over this trip last month. Half-brother to a Group Three 7f winner as a 2yo and out of a 7f winning mare. Represents top stable and probably tough to beat.

Has not beaten an opponent home in two bumper starts. Dam is a half-sister to a 6f-7f winner, so at least his pedigree is not totally devoid of hope that he can do better on the Flat, but looks best watched on his debut in this sphere.

Well beaten in all three starts to date, including a 25L defeat on his first outing for this yard at Redcar last month. Likely to have much more of a chance when he has a handicap mark.

Has run with some credit on all four starts in novices' events and maidens over 1m and was just touched off at Redcar last time on his first start since being gelded. Pedigree suggests that this drop in trip will not be a problem and he may now be able to progress.

Half-brother to sprint winners as well as AW over 1m. Gelded prior to this first start and given that he begins over this trip it could be that he hasn't been showing too much speed at home. The market will be our best guide.

Cost 130,000 gns as a foal. Placed over this trip on his debut in a Wolverhampton maiden in January and then sent to Ireland for his turf debut in March, but beaten 38L. Soft/heavy ground may have been responsible for that and might be able to do better back on faster ground over a trip that pedigree suggests will be ideal.

Improved for her Pontefract debut when stepped up in trip over this C&D last month. Can continue that upward curve today, but is more than likely to get properly competitive when handicapping.
Full-sister to a 5f-6f winner and half-sister to winners at both this trip and 1m. Never dangerous fourth of eight beaten 10L on her Thirsk debut and can build on that. Precautionary market check advised, though likely to take longer to come to hand.

Forecasts

Armandihan (11/10), Mokhalad (5/4), The Eagle's Nest (13/2), Almunther (20/1), Yorkshire Pudding (20/1), Pastime (20/1), Decima (33/1), Kensington Palace (50/1), Zaytoon (150/1), Starfall (150/1)

Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute's runners are in decent form and he looks to have found a nice opportunity for MOKHALAD to break his duck, after a good run in defeat at Doncaster last time. Armandihan looks likely to give him most to do, while The Eagle's Nest should appreciate this better ground and can complete the 1-2-3.
  1. Mokhalad
  2. Armandihan
  3. The Eagle's Nest
