Can be a little headstrong but no doubting his ability, as his win in the Grade 2 Kennel Gate novices hurdle at Ascot last season showed, and he made short work of an easy task last time. Chase debut today and should be one of the two major players here.

No win in 12 starts in bumpers or hurdles, and exposed as being low grade. Needs mishaps to the big two players here to have any chance of being involved in the finish.

Regressive for some time now and no better for the switch to fences. Would be better off in a handicap and looks to be booked for minor honours barring accidents.

Decent handicap hurdler and came good on final start over hurdles, beating Yourgonnahearmeroar an easy 3l at Chepstow. Wins, however, have come on soft/heavy so may find ground conditions here a little on the quick side. Chance still respected on chase debut all the same.

Forecasts

Capitaine (4/9), The Gipper (15/8), Seven Nation Army (20/1), Denny Kerrell (50/1)

Verdict

CAPITAINE and The Gipper are the two that should hold sway barring accidents here. With The Gipper possibly wanting softer ground than is likely today, preference is for Capitaine, who has the build to make up into a decent chaser this season. A clear round here should help his confidence. Seven Nation Army looks booked for third.
