Ran okay in a Class 6 handicap at Nottingham last month but hard to see why he has been returned to maiden company having finished well beaten on his six other starts and has plenty to find on form.

Cost €145,000 as a yearling and not beaten far on either start to date but his level of form would probably need improving upon if he's to take a hand here and his maiden win looks more likely to come in a handicap.

Only minor hints of ability on first two starts but it could be significant he's the pick of the stable jockey who rides this course particularly well and yard have been in good form in recent weeks; not dismissed.

Interesting he remains in maiden company having achieved a mark and not shown a great deal in any of his three starts yet. Should improve for the step up in trip and jockey booking could be significant but has a bit to find on form.

Good second in a maiden at Doncaster on Lincoln day but struggled last time in the Derby trial at Epsom. Will no doubt find this easier and looks a leading contender but recent yard form is a little off-putting following a good start to the season.

Went off favourite for his debut in a maiden at Sandown but failed to justify the market support and starts out for a new yard now. Trainer does well with horses returning from a break and probably one to watch in the market.
Shown ability in two big field maidens at Newbury and Nottingham. Been gelded since and could be a different proposition this season but wide draw won't be easy to overcome.
Respectable effort on debut last week at Salisbury but no doubt he will need to improve to take a hand in this contest. Holds a Derby entry.

Clearly improved this winter and finished runner-up at Kempton behind a potentially smart one last time. Will probably enjoy another step up in trip and been given time to recover from that effort, plenty to like from a workable draw.

Forecasts

Never Surrender (2/1), Mutarabby (2/1), Meccabah (11/4), Bristol Missile (9/2), Unite The Clans (7/1), Solar Cross (8/1), Katmandoo (20/1), Legato (25/1), Baker Street (50/1), Poetic Voice (66/1)

Verdict

Jim Crowley has a fine record when teaming up with Saeed Bin Suroor and MUTARABBY has shown enough in his two starts to suggest he can take this. Never Surrender has shown a fair level of form in his six starts and Maccabah showed enough on her second start to suggest she can trouble the judge.
  1. Mutarabby
  2. Never Surrender
  3. Meccabah
