Turned in some very solid performances in top class company last year with the best of the lot being a second in the Group 2 Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot. Finally broke her maiden when winning a long odds-on over 1m2f at Lingfield on the AW and takes a rise back up in class here but not one she can't take in her stride.

Despite winning her last two starts she still looks unexposed and a potential improver. Both those wins came on the AW and the unknown is the return to turf (just one run on it) but this yard know how to handle this sort and she showed a good turn of foot last time out after travelling well.

Trainer won this last year but he'll do well to repeat the trick with this lightly raced sort who was a juvenile winner but comes here off a very long break and fitness needs to be taken on trust.

The only C&D winner in the field although that win only came in a handicap and she now starts out life for a new yard facing a much tougher test. Whichever way you look at the form she would need to improve her to make her mark in this.

Showed progressive form as a three-year-old (didn't run as a two-year-old) winning twice and looking impressive on her last start when taking a Leicester handicap of 82. On strict ratings she still has work to do at these weights but she could have a chance of outrunning her odds here.

Four consecutive wins last year marked her down as smart with the last three coming in handicaps off increasing marks. Disappointed in this grade when going for her five-timer at Bath in October but remains with potential and not ruled out at all.

Looking at her last two runs in this class last year she would need to raise her game to take a hand here. Career best came in a Newmarket handicaps and this represents a tougher test.

There was definite promise in her juvenile form and on her form she showed when taking the runner-up slot in the Cheshire Oaks she would have a definite chance here. Does though still only have an AW maiden win to her name and was behind Dubka when the pair met in Listed company at Bath on her final start of last season.

Forecasts

Dubka (11/4), Alf Guineas (7/2), Dance The Dream (9/2), Ajman Princess (6/1), Moorside (13/2), Colonial Classic (9/1), Elysian Fields (20/1), Chinoiseries (25/1), Allumage (33/1)

Verdict

Ajman Princess sets the standard on her second in the Ribblesdale last year but her maiden win didn’t totally convince and it may pay to take a glance elsewhere here. Dubka looked most progressive last year and despite disappointing on her last outing with a winter under her belt she looks just the type he stable do well with. Lots of the others are trying to make the step up in grade here and one in particular that could is ALF GUINEAS who comes from a yard in sparkling form and really impressed last time with her turn of foot.
  1. Alf Guineas
  2. Dubka
  3. Ajman Princess
