Won over C&D from a 2lb higher mark last July but form took a complete nosedive afterwards. Does go well at this course, which may rekindle his interest. But has a stiff draw to contend with and, given that he usually goes well when fresh, it has to be disconcerting that he failed to land a blow on his reappearance at Doncaster last time out.

Well drawn and is a previous C&D winner. He won well at Redcar last time out, but now requires a personal best if he is going to add to his tally. Good to firm would also be a little faster than he prefers.

A consistent type that reverts to racing on turf on handy mark. Yard is turning the corner and has been back amongst the winners. Draw could have been kinder but one for the shortlist nevertheless.

Clobbered with a stiff looking mark after winning on his debut last June, he struggled as last season progressed. Didn't show much on his debut for his current yard and does come here with plenty to prove. Worth bearing in mind that he is currently dangerously well handicapped though. He is one to keep tabs on whatever happens here.

Sole win came in a maiden at this course over two years ago and he is in danger of becoming a frustrating horse to follow. However, he posted a respectable effort on his return from a gelding operation when fifth at Redcar last time out. More required this time but he is on a very handy mark just now. Interesting if supported.

Another that paid the price with a stiff handicap mark following an early career success and seemed to lose his way for his previous trainer. Quite feasible that he will have been freshened up since switch to a new yard but he needs to step things up considerably after last week's modest effort at Thirsk.

Sole victories came off marks of 58 and 61, so hard to see him being a leading player in this company despite holding a fair record over C&D. Others preferred.

Forecasts

Gin In The Inn (11/10), Quick Look (3/1), Bounty Pursuit (9/2), Newstead Abbey (6/1), Still On Top (7/1), Aguerooo (8/1), Johnny Cavagin (10/1), Mr Orange (11/1), Avenue Of Stars (14/1), Yeeoow (20/1), Racquet (25/1)

Verdict

This is a bit of a minefield but it can be worth chancing a small investment on YEEOOW, who is a consistent individual that reverts to turf on a potentially winning mark. He is not particularly well drawn but given the inconsistencies of many of today's opponents it may not prove to be such an issue. Quick Look is another that is very well treated just now and would interesting if supported, while Gin In The Inn needs to post a personal best but is very well drawn and could easily slip the noose if he handles the expected firm ground. Support for Bounty Pursuit to at least make the frame would also be noteworthy.
  1. Yeeoow
  2. Quick Look
  3. Gin In The Inn
