Gelded after a moderate first effort at Redcar in the autumn and that did not yield immediate gains when beaten 13½L on his return at the same venue, when stepped up to this trip earlier in the month. Looks a more likely type when given a handicap mark.

110,000 GNS yearling. Related to some classy middle distance performers, including Group Three winner Stellar Mass. Holds a Derby entry, though slightly disappointing on debut over this trip at Newmarket last week. Certainly worth persevering with and it would be no surprise if he leaves that form behind today.

Last of 10 on debut in July and, while he stepped up o that on his Redcar reappearance, he looks to have plenty to find and will be more interesting when taking the handicapping route.

Gelded before his debut at Doncaster last month and never really got competitive. Stable's runners usually need a run or two to reach fever pitch and some improvement anticipated this time. Market check suggested.

Stepped up in trip well enough at Pontefract last time, showing improvement for his debut to be a 4½L second. Will probably need a bit more than that to be winning this, but likely that he can improve again and it would be no surprise to see him go close.
70,000 GNS yearling. Half-brother to 1m1f-1m3f winner Danchai. Dam is an unraced half-sister to 7f-1m Group One (including 1,000 Guineas) winner Sky Lantern and two other winners at 6f and 2m Group Three. Stable in good form and a market check is advised to gauge confidence on debut.

First foal of an unraced full-sister to smart 5f-6f winner Chief Editor and two other winners from 7f-1m1f. Gelded before this debut and while yard can get one ready, there are a couple in here who will make winning a tough ask.

9,000 GNS purchase. This looks an ideal trip judged on pedigree, though was unable to get involved over it on her Doncaster debut. Plenty to find an likely to find more joy in handicaps.

Forecasts

Daawy (4/6), Marqoom (11/4), Thistimenextyear (11/2), Kilowatt (14/1), Bing Bang Bank (14/1), Vindicator (22/1), Jump Around (25/1), Kelpie Spirit (50/1)

Verdict

Thistimenextyear is very well-related and deserves a market check here as he could go very well on debut in what in not a strong maiden. Of those with experience, Marqoom can improve again and should be thereabouts, but Derby entry DAAWY blew off the cobwebs on debut, when he was sent off at 9/2 and he may well be able to leave that form behind today. He is the suggestion.
  1. Daawy
  2. Marqoom
  3. Thistimenextyear
