Dual course winner over shorter in fact those were his last two wins with both coming off lower marks. Had an unsuccessful (in winning terms) winter on the AW and ran very tamely on his only turf start since at Pontefract. Creditable run on the AW last time out and may get the run of the race here but always looks vulnerable to an improver off this mark.

Performs well around here and his last win came here just over a year ago over an extended 7f off this mark and held his form well for a couple of runs after that. Form tailed off over the winter on the AW and only solid runs have come off lower marks of late. Ran a poor race last time out back on turf and hope is that a return to his favourite venue will rejuvenate him.

Slipped down the weights after a poor spell since he last won at Pontefract (1m2f) off a mark of 73 in 2015. Couple of his better runs since have come over further (1m4f) and would look well treated if he put everything together and has gone well fresh before.

Course winner who has won over this trip and did so on his penultimate outing last season at Haydock when he returned to his best form. Still looked in good form when last seen at Chester in July although there is a suspicion that a mark like this leaves him a little vulnerable and no great record when fresh.

Looks the sort that this stable often do well with and he did shape better than the bare result a few times last year for his old yard although he was without a win. Still to win a race in fact but shaped with a little bit of promise on his debut for this yard over a mile at Pontefract but he is untested over a trip such as this.

On a very long losing run now that stretches back nearly three years although he has now slipped to well below his last winning mark. Looked to need his seasonal debut at Doncaster over 1m2f but still looks a quirky sort (carries head awkwardly) and the long losing run leaves him with questions to answer.

Just the one win to his name so far which came on the AW at Wolverhampton on October off a 5lb lower mark and he looks to be better on the AW than he does on turf. Comeback run at Newcastle was solid enough but previous turf form hardly inspires and he has on occasions looked far from in love with the game.

Took advantage of a fall in the weights to end a long losing run at Nottingham last summer over a mile but ran a couple of moderate races after that when attempting to follow-up. Has run a couple of creditable races returning to the course after a break and shaped quite nicely back at Nottingham last time out (travelled well) and given too much to do and remains of interest off this mark.

Has looked very ring rusty in two starts this season coming back from a break and would need to have shown more to take a hand here despite being 12lb below his last winning mark.

Comes from a stable that is in good form with their jumps horses but is still a maiden despite finishing in the runner-up slot in three of his last four starts. Took a step forward on his first run of this year when obtaining one of those seconds at Pontefract over 1m2f although he had no chance of beating the improved winner from an in-form stable. Seemingly meets nothing of that quality here and must have a good chance of going one better and winning for the first time.

Forecasts

Ravenhoe (9/2), Lopito de Vega (9/2), Strummer (5/1), Bit Of A Quirke (6/1), Bahamian C (8/1), Bling King (8/1), All You (8/1), Arithmetic (12/1), Correggio (14/1), Clayton Hall (50/1)

Verdict

Not that many here enter in what you could call good form and there are also some long losing runs on display here with solid options hard to find. Bit Of A Quirke enters the equation on his runner-up slot at Pontefract last time out while a return to this track could see All You return to his best. Ravenhoe looks to have avoided any potential improvers this time and should run his usual solid race especially coming from a yard that have a good record at the track. BLING KING has run well here (without winning) on a few occasions and providing he doesn’t get left with too much to do again he might well be able to build on his good run at Nottingham last time out.
  1. Bling King
  2. Bit Of A Quirke
  3. Ravenhoe
