Returned to turf for his handicap debut at Musselburgh over 5f for the first time and ran no sort of race at all. Hard to know what to expect this time around again over the minimum trip after the race he ran last time out.
Well drawn for one who likes to go forward and did so when winning a nursery at Musselburgh on her penultimate start last year when favourite off a mark of 64. Unable to dominate in her only subsequent start but still ran with credit and dangerous here if gaining soft lead back from a break.
Only win last year came in a 5f Musselburgh maiden on his third start. Ran poorly in handicaps at the backend of the season off higher marks and despite the ease in the weights others are given more chance here.
Showed plenty of promise on her debut as a juvenile at York over 5f when well fancied in the market. Didn't quite live up to that promise in two subsequent starts over 5f and 6f and now goes handicapping off what looks to be a fairly lenient mark given that debut run.
Consistent as a juvenile although didn't manage to win with a couple of seconds the best she could manage in nurseries. Poor run to end the year but would have a chance if ready to go after a break.
Form is consistent without being progressive although she has had the benefit of a run this year unlike some of these. Could well pick up a handicap at some point but might find one or two more progressive here.
Now with a new yard after winning a 5f heavy ground maiden at Nottingham last year. Efforts in handicaps after that were solid enough although it did look as though she was ready for a try at 6f and this might be a little sharp.
Travelled very well and showed plenty of ability on her debut over C&D last May. Only seen once more as a juvenile and was very free on her return recently in her third maiden over 5f this time on the AW. Yet to build on her debut effort bit she may well do on her handicap debit returning to the C&D where she has shown her best form.
Forecasts
Dundunah (15/8), Hot Hannah (5/1), Ventura Secret (11/2), Kodicat (6/1), Flawlessly (9/1), Havelock (10/1), Mightaswellsmile (12/1), Harbour Lightning (16/1)
This race may well have a little more depth that the betting suggests with Hot Hannah one who could prove suited by this trip and track and looks well drawn for a front runner. Dundunah didn’t quite live up to her debut promise but should be able to do so now she goes handicapping. Both Kodicat and Harbour Lightning have shown solid form but a chance is taken here with FLAWLESSLY who showed her best form her on debut and a recent run may well have taken the fizz out of her.
- Flawlessly
- Dundunah
- Hot Hannah
