10/1
Lightly-raced dual performer for his age, hasn't looked convincing in four starts this year either on Flat or jumping. Well held over 2m3f at Cork this month and concedes weight all round in this.
2
Horse silk
Tudor Cityt9
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-6| J: D F O'Regan| T: A J Martin| OR:  132
9/1
Got off the mark over timber at Fairyhouse nine days ago, would perhaps have been asked a difficult question but for late departure of Runforbob and this is certainly a more competitive affair.
3

Roconga10
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-3| J: Mark Walsh| T: E J O'Grady| OR:  129
10/3
Is now 13lb higher than when winning at Kilbeggan in August over 2m1f, that was a commanding success and has won two of three Flat starts since, latest coming this month so is fit and ready to go.
4

Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: J S McGarvey| T: P A Fahy| OR:  129

Has been off for eight months ahead of this return to hurdling, only scored in one of a dozen runs over timber but clearly has ability and if able to produce his best here he merits plenty respect. Was traveling strongly in this contest a year ago before falling three out.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-1| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR:  127

Good winner over this trip at Navan on penultimate start, is 8lb higher now and has since failed to back up that effort over further at Downpatrick. Overall profile suggests best watched here.
6
Horse silk
Light That10
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: R M Power| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  126
10/1
Has won a couple of minor hurdles races from six starts, current rating calls for career-best to score here - though given recent run of trainer/jockey, it shouldn't be dismissed.
7
Horse silk
Veinardt7
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-13| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott| OR:  125
7/2
An excellent second at Fairyhouse recently in a competitive handicap, doing best work in the closing stages to chase down front running winner. Races off the same mark in this and has excellent rider on board.

Miles To Memphist9
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-10| J: M A Enright| T: Mrs D Foster| OR:  122
8/1
Has run two very fine races for this trainer, winning a minor Navan handicap in February before taking second in valuable 19-runner affair at Cork earlier this month. Goes up 3lb on that run and should be in the mix.

Adreamstillalivep26
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-9| J: D J Mullins| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  121

Mare has been progressing nicely this season and is chasing a five-timer now. She's been raised another 7lb for ½L success at Limerick latest as the assessor attempts to reel her in but she may not be finished yet.

Clara Sorrentoh9
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-4| J: B J Cooper| T: N Meade| OR:  116
10/1
Winner of a Clonmel maiden last month though was well held at Fairyhouse nine days ago on handicap debut off this mark. Cooper apparently favours him over Dakota Moirette.

Dakota Moirette9
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-2| J: C D Meehan(7)| T: G Elliott| OR:  124
16/1
Finished well down the field at Fairyhouse last time having previously run a respectable race in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham. Too soon to right him off, drops 1lb for this.

Forecasts

Roconga (10/3), Veinard (7/2), Adreamstillalive (8/1), Miles To Memphis (8/1), Tudor City (9/1), Light That (10/1), Pique Sous (10/1), Clara Sorrento (10/1), Western Boy (14/1), Dakota Moirette (16/1), Sanibel Island (20/1)

Verdict

Assuming he's none worse for the efforts, VEINARD looks capable of going one better than his recent second at Fairyhouse where he stood no chance once the winner got first run. The booking of Russell looks a positive for him and he can help his trainer winner this race for the second year running. Roconga, who has been doing well on the Flat, is respected back over timber despite a greatly increased mark while Tudor City isn't discounted despite his recent Fairyhouse win having a touch of good fortune about it. Dakota Moirette appeals as the more likely of the Gigginstown duo to bounce back to form but the progressive mare Adreamstillalive looks more likely to mount another challenge than either of that pair.
  1. Veinard
  2. Adreamstillalive
  3. Roconga
