Ex-Balydoyle horse who contested the 2015 Irish 2,000 Guineas. Winner under today's rider at Kempton and not disgraced last time in significantly higher grade. Represents a trainer/jockey combination with a 29 percent strike rate at this course.
Winner over 6f last time but was campaigned over 7f-1m early in his career. Trip is well within range and a 3lb rise for his latest success may underestimate what he had in hand. Looks a definite player in this.
Winner of a Ripon maiden. Third, fourth and fifth have all won minor races since. Still looks no more than fairly weighted here on that form. Yard going well with 8-29 in the past fortnight.
Improved markedly last season and was still producing career bests up until his winter break. Has gone well following a layoff previously and yard had their first winner of the year on Saturday.
AW record is 2-5. Has a stiff task here following a rise in the weights having landed a lower grade race at Kempton. Has looked in need of his first run of the campaign for the last two seasons.
Forecasts
The Warrior (5/4), Shargiah (5/2), Dream Of Summer (5/1), Bouclier (7/1), Golden Wedding (9/1)
Shargiah is a real dark horse in this off a mark of 81. Having only had three runs he will not have had to improve much to be a contender in this. The handicapper appears to have gauged his Ripon success about right and he is giving away a fitness advantage. As a result we think it will pay to side with THE WARRIOR who won a competitive handicap at Kempton before taking his chance in a hot race at Bath last time. Down in grade here, and with the champion rider on board, he can land this at the expense of Bouclier. He was produced late to score over 6f at Kempton last time and won with more authority than the winning margin suggests. He has form over this longer trip and he looks the chief threat to the selection.
- The Warrior
- Bouclier
- Shargiah
