Consistent if hard to win with sort, and has been a beaten favourite on five of his last seven starts. Difficult to knock another solid effort at Kempton latest (on quick ground) and takes a step down the grading ladder here. Must hold a solid chance again.

Been in the grip of the handicapper for much of the past year but now back on a winnable mark and has his ideal conditions. Has won fresh in the past so absence not a concern, and yard still among the winners after a good year.

Improving quickly and humped a big weight at Exeter when winning last time, still looking like he had something left in the locker at the finish. Up in the weights and in grade today but hard to say he won't progress again and defy the handicapper once more.

Consistent mare that's been well campaigned and picks up plenty of prize money along the way, but may find the rise in the weights after her latest chase win at Taunton a bit much to handle. Has been beaten over hurdles since then and may ultimately find this too tough.

Forecasts

Orbasa (5/4), Meldrum Lad (13/8), Innocent Girl (7/2), Ashcott Boy (12/1)

Verdict

All four can be given chances of some sort, but the race is muddied somewhat by the possible lack of pace. Small stakes are advised then, with ASHCOTT BOY just given the vote as he might try and pinch this off the front and is finally back on a winning mark with his ideal conditions. Orbasa has the class to take care of these but finishes runner up too many times for comfort and may well do so again here. Meldrum Lad can take a hold and might be better in a bigger field with a bit more pace on, but is still respected as an in-form winner.
