In cracking form with wins over C&D followed by at Kelso earlier in the month. Front pair had a little bit to spare again there, so he looks far from a spent force here, although now doubly penalised.

Won a Carlisle novices' hurdle in February when looking quite impressive. Perhaps heavy ground was the reason for his flop next time, but came back well in defeat at Sedgefield earlier in the month and again likely to be competitive.

Had been threatening to make progress earlier in the campaign before doing so to win one of these at Newbury last month. Aquitted himself reasonably well in handicap company over 2m3f back at the same track last time, but connections return to a novices' contest under a penalty and over shorter. Interesting.

Steady progress in bumpers until the last of his four runs. Switched yards since then and makes debut for new stable and also hurdles debut today. Related to several winners over hurdles at this trip and support for him would probably be significant.

Not yet managed to land a blow in any of his three starts in bumpers and novices' hurdles. Little encouragement from any of them to suggest that he is about to flourish here.
Handicapper has been reluctant to make a judgement on his abilities from three starts over hurdles so far and none of them were much to write home about. Looks more one to be zoning in on when he is given a mark.
Well beaten on Sedgefield bumper debut on Boxing Day and has a Flat pedigree. Looks to have plenty to prove on this hurdling introduction and a watching brief is advised.

Well beaten in all three bumpers runs three years ago. Not seen a racecourse since then, which has to be a big concern. Grandam was a hurdle/chase from 2m-3m, so there is hope that some ability lies within, though not sure that we are likely to see it this time.

Won a point-to-point last year and showed glimpses of ability on sole bumper start and also hurdles debut at Doncaster in February. Disappointed at Southwell last time over further, so dropped back in trip here and if he can show some improvement he might have some sort of involvement late on.

Runner-up in a Kelso bumper in September and not a bad effort for a long way over further than this at Newcastle last time. Drops in trip, which pedigree suggests is probably a positive and can continue to make steady strides here.

30,000 GNS 2yo with a Flat pedigree that suggests 6f-1m on the level would be his bag. Rated just 46 in that sphere and makes his hurdles debut today. Looks best watched with plenty of points to prove.

Forecasts

Blue Hussar (6/4), Viserion (5/2), Dinsdale (11/4), Manny Owens (14/1), Jack Lamb (16/1), Thomas Todd (28/1), Super Charge (100/1), Sir Tommy (100/1), Man Of La Mancha (100/1), King Golan (250/1), Ma Petit Lumier (250/1)

Verdict

Despite their respective penalties this looks likely to rest between the top three on the list and BLUE HUSSAR perhaps looked the most likely to find more when winning at Kelso last time, so he is taken to complete a hat-trick. Viserion and Dinsdale have also both shown ability and neither would be a surprise winner, so they should be in the shake-up once again.
  1. Blue Hussar
  2. Viserion
  3. Dinsdale
