Couldn't justify favouritism over this trip at Newcastle last time out, though he always seems to reserve his best for this course.. Could be vulnerable to an improving type in this, but it would be no surprise to see him go close.
C&D winner who has finished close-up on all four of her most recent starts, all of them coming at this course. Handicap mark is slowly creeping up but she seems to be improving with it, though she was beaten by Annie Salts off similar weights to today on the first of those occasions.
Racing keenly probably blew her chance over 6f at Kempton last time out, and so it's no surprise to see her dropped in trip with a hood applied for the first time. Rates as a threat to all if that brings out improvement, especially as a course winner, albeit off 6lb lower than today's mark.
Only 1/16 in his career so far, but that came over this trip off a similar handicap mark in a tougher race than this. Has failed to show that he is fully effective on Tapeta though, and so he has something to prove in that respect.
C&D winner who seems to have had his limitations firmly exposed in his advancing years. Currently 5lb higher than at the time of his narrow victory at Lingfield in December, and in all likelihood prefers that surface to today's Tapeta.
Won over C&D back in February and has come close on a couple of occasions since then, but more is needed here on the basis of a 11½L beating at Southwell when last seen earlier in the month.
Went close over C&D last time and should be able to build on that performance, remaining on the same mark as for that race. Top all-weather jockey keeps the ride and he should be able to make another bold bid.
Recorded an impressive victory over C&D in September, but hasn't managed to show her best having been put up 7lb in the weights for that display. Looks like her handicap limit may have been reached and she's difficult to fancy here on that basis.
Forecasts
You're Cool (9/4), Entertaining Ben (5/1), K'gari Spirit (5/1), Annie Salts (6/1), Powerful Dream (15/2), Vale Of Flight (17/2), Kiringa (9/1), Temple Road (20/1)
This is a fairly open looking contest and it's possible to make a case of a few of them. Powerful Dream has been running very well recently and is entitled to go close if able to reverse form with Annie Salts, while You're Cool is a course specialist who should also go well. They can be the ones to give K'GARI SPIRIT most to think about. Jeremy Gask's charge blew her chance at the beginning of the race at Kempton last time given her refusal to settle, so the application of a hood and the drop back in trip should suit this course winner down to the ground, and she can cross the line in front once again at this track.
- K'gari Spirit
- Powerful Dream
- You're Cool
