Placed third on soft ground over 2m at Ludlow early last month but disappointed over this C&D again on soft ground three weeks later. Races off a mark 2lb lower than for his last run and interesting dropped in grade here.

Promising rules debut at Ludlow in April 2016 when third in a novice hurdle. Well beaten three times over hurdles and a bit to prove at present with the hood worn the last twice dispensed with for his handicap debut.

Best effort over hurdles came when finishing fifth over 2m at Huntingdon (good-to-soft) last November. Well beaten on handicap debut at Exeter last time out and drop in trip looks likely to suit here.

Not beaten far when finishing third of six off a mark of 109 at Huntingdon early last month. Diddn't appear to appreciate the step up to an extended 2m2f at Exeter subsequently and interesting with a visor (placed twice in it in the past) replacing cheekpieces for this.

Finished 2L third over an extended 1m7f at Catterick (soft) at Catterick in February. Well held at Wetherby last time and remains on a mark 3lb higher than for his only success. Wears a visor for the first time here.

Run some promising races over hurdles in the past including when travelling ok when falling two out over C&D in January. Disappointed twice here since however. Interesting runner if repeating that January effort on his return to handicaps.

Maiden after 14 outings and well beaten on each of his five starts for this stable including at Hexham on heavy ground last time out. Makes his handicap debut here.

Won only once from 20 starts over hurdles but put in one of his better efforts when finishing 11L third over 2m at Uttoxeter (soft) earlier this month. Also placed at Doncaster on good ground this season but sole win came nearly three years ago.

Sound effort despite being a beaten favourite when finishing runner-up at Uttoxeter on soft ground over three weeks ago. Races off the same mark here and handles the good ground predicted here. Seeking his first victory today.

Winner and placed twice from three starts for this yard so far. All of those efforts came at this track including when successful off a mark of 89 on good ground over this trip in October 2015. Unraced since finishing runner-up here the following month and worth a check in the market after over a year off the track.

Successful off a 1lb lower mark on good ground over an extended 2m at Doncaster in January. Well held twice since including under an amateur rider at Huntingdon last month but remains of interest receiving weight from all his rivals here.

Peppay Le Pugh (11/4), Quill Art (5/1), Steel City (7/1), Hear The Chimes (15/2), Stepover (8/1), Back To Balloo (8/1), Theredballoon (12/1), Windy Writer (12/1), Torhousemuir (16/1), Rain In The Face (25/1), Shininstar (50/1)

Verdict

The first time visor can bring about the improvement needed for QUILL ART to register his second career success in this handicap hurdle. The selection represents the in-form Richard Fahey stable (13/61) and was beaten just 2L off this mark at Catterick in February. Peppay Le Pugh can claim second once more as he goes in search of a first victory following a good effort at Uttoxeter on soft ground earlier this month while Back To Balloo can register another place following his solid third placed effort in the previously mentioned Uttoxeter last time out while the mare Stepover is another to consider in this.
  1. Quill Art
  2. Peppay Le Pugh
  3. Back To Balloo
