Won a maiden here over 1m1f last season (good to firm) and has been well placed to win three of his next five races in handicaps. Chasing a hat-trick today after successive wins at Wolverhampton over 1m1½f, the latest by a comfortable 1½L. 5lb rise to defy but style of racing suits this track and can go close.
1m4f Leicester maiden winner in September (good to soft) and had excuses on only subsequent start when hit by rival rider's whip entering closing stages. Drops back in trip for this return to action, though should not be inconvenienced. Yard in great form and draw the only real negative here.
Ran well enough on sole start here in August and has scored four times elsewhere at up to 1m4½f. Stayed on well for second at Pontefract recently and unseated early last time, but if none the worse he should be thereabouts from inside draw.
Enjoyed a great end to 2015, winning three out of four at one stage, though only a couple of glimpses of that last year and was unable to add to the win column. Now back to 1lb higher than his last success, so entitled to some sort of claim, though yard not fully firing at present.
3lb higher than when winning at Ayr on September and was competitive from this mark on his only other outing since then, at Haydock. Yet to record a win when fresh in his career, however and the odds must be against him rewriting that personal history at this age.
Dundalk maiden winner over 1m when with Jessie Harrington. Last raced for her in September and has since changed yards, resuming from a mark 3lb lower than his latest run. Unexposed over this trip and yard going well enough, so market check advised given that he is drawn well.
13lb lower than his latest win, which came in a decent York handicap at the end of the 2015 season (1m2½f, good to soft). Had already won over C&D twice that season and showed first sign of a return to form at Doncaster earlier in the month. Poor draw but otherwise very interesting.
Sole handicap success was at Wolverhampton two starts ago from 6lb lower. Comfortably held from today's mark at the same venue last time. Went close to winning over C&D in June from 2lb lower than today and is respected.
Recorded back-to-back wins at Wolverhampton (1m1½f) in December, the latter from 7lb lower than today. Well beaten on his Redcar return so has to prove that he is as good on the green stuff and from this mark.
1-5 at this track, that success coming over C&D (good) in May from a 4lb higher mark. He was fresh on that occasion. Has been unable to threaten either on this grade or higher since then, so returns today after another break and with claimer up to offset that mark. Interesting if supported.
Reasonably consistent with three wins and eight places from 18 starts. Most recent win was over 1m3f at Southwell in February from 4lb lower, though held from today's mark twice since and probably better when conditions a little slower than forecast.
Forecasts
Uae Prince (2/1), Final (6/1), Count Montecristo (6/1), Amazement (15/2), Maifalki (8/1), Chancery (17/2), Dance King (14/1), Footlight (16/1), Mulligatawny (28/1), Maraakib (40/1), Silvery Moon (50/1)
Hat-trick seeking Amazement can make a bold bid to bag another win under top weight, though preference is for the unexposed UAE PRINCE, who may be capable of defying the worst of the draw. Mulligatawny is an interesting opponent, while Chancery, Final and Count Montecristo are others likely to be involved.
- Uae Prince
- Mulligatawny
- Chancery
