5lb higher than when scoring over C&D last month and went close from same mark as that win last time at Kempton. Entitled to be thereabouts once more.
Not the most consistent of performers but has gone well in two of his last three starts, finishing runner-up at Newcastle and then winning over the same trip (1m) at Chelmsford last time under today's pilot. 4lb rise to contend with but can be competitive.
Most recent win was in a C&D seller in January and although he has put in a couple of competitive efforts from higher marks in handicaps since then, he needed the drop to today's mark, from which he is capable of going close.
All three wins have been here, two over C&D, including from 3lb lower in November. Remains competitive from today's mark, though may find one or two too good.
Has run well on all of his last six starts, winning over this trip at Newcastle in December from 9lb lower, though improving despite two subsequent narrow defeats at that venue. No reason why he can't continue that upward curve with stable in such good form and he is short-listed.
Almost two years since his last win, but only 3lb lower going into this. Trainer well capable of exploiting such a mark, though recent evidence suggests that he may have to wait a little longer to end his losing run.
6lb lower than his best (and most recent) win which was almost two years ago. Has a c&D win to his name too, though not knocking on the door quite hard enough of late to be confident of a return to winning ways.
Runner-up twice over C&D and also at Southwell in each of her last three runs and has gone up 3lb for that in total. That, coupled with this slightly stronger grade, will not make her task any easier.
Forecasts
Swansway (11/4), Roman De Brut (4/1), Spiritual Star (4/1), So It's War (6/1), Black Dave (13/2), Simply Clever (9/1), Foie Gras (16/1), Gambino (25/1)
A competitive event in its class and SWANSWAY is taken to continue his steady improvement with another win, while Roman De Brut, Black Dave and Spiritual Star are the opponents who could give him the most to do .
- Swansway
- Roman De Brut
- Black Dave
