Takes a big drop in class on the Flat (has been running over hurdles of late) with the cheekpieces on for the first time. Well-in at the weights with most of these but does encounter this unique surface for the first time.

Tends to run well in contest like this around this track and clearly goes well on the surface. Made the most of easy opportunities of late to win here over 1m4f and at Lingfield over slightly shorter. Finds life in handicaps tough these days but hard to write off in this sphere.

The winner of seven races around here and has won three of his last four starts at the course twice in claiming company. Produced a career best effort last time out to take a handicap here off 77 and a repeat of that effort would put him in with a good chance here.

Another one in this small field that handles this surface winning here over 1m6f on his penultimate start in a handicap. Found out by the 6lb penalty hen he attempted a quick follow-up last time out but still ran well. Quite nicely treated the weights here if he can handle the shorter trip.

This one has had just the one spin around here finishing third in a 1m4f handicap off a mark of 80. This is arguably as tough as that handicap and others may just have a little more to offer on this surface.

Forecasts

Luv U Whatever (5/2), Tatting (11/4), Brigadoon (4/1), Fattsota (4/1), Esteaming (7/1)

Verdict

Quite hard to split this quintet who all have some sort of chance with Fattsota rated the best on official figures but he hasn’t run here before whereas the other four have. TATTING is the selected out of that four as he returns to claiming company with plenty of respect given to Brigadoon and Luv U Whatever.
  1. Tatting
  2. Brigadoon
  3. Luv U Whatever
