Returned from a long time away from the track in December but has not been in especially good form since. Beaten into eighth when last seen on the Flat at Kempton and goes down only 3lb for that effort. Tongue tie goes on.
Should be very competitive from this mark, although 4lb higher than his latest win. Has gone 14 races without a win and yet to open his AW account in 16 attempts.
Came to hand early last season and was well supported on last start off this much higher mark. Failed to give his running on testing ground and worth another chance on a track which clearly suits.
Full-brother to Derby runner-up At First Sight. Has looked the type to do better in handicaps and gets a trip here more in line with his pedigree. One to note in the market.
Dual C&D winner who may have found this mark and shorter trip against him last time. Up against less exposed horses here and may find one or two too good for him.
Has C&D form but looks better over further. Tailed off on his last start of 2016 but a gelding operation appears to have worked judged on his staying on sixth over 1m4f last time.
Forecasts
Therthaar (1/1), Deep Challenger (9/2), Ravenhoe (9/2), Spin Point (8/1), Whitecliff Park (11/1), Siouxperhero (14/1)
Deep Challenger is very much one where punters need to be alert to a significant market move on his handicap debut. The extra distance here today gives him an opportunity to build on two eyecatching performances in maidens for his new yard. THERTHAAR was highly impressive in landing three races here early last season and could prove to be a lot better than his current mark suggests. Siouxperhero looks best of the rest.
