Yard have had to wait until Saturday to get their first winner of the year. Others ran well in defeat and that raises expectations that this C&D winner will soon be scoring.
Was in excellent form during October and November with two wins over 7f here. Has to prove she is up to this mark and has failed to do so previously.
Dropping down the weights but has not offered much encouragement in the process. Stable's horses have been going better lately though and jockey booking is as strong as usual. Few signs of late that he was coming back to his best.
Runner up in a Class 2 handicap (5F) at Newmarket in June 2016 on his final start for Charles Hills (sold for £32,000), but little impression in four runs for this trainer last back-end, with his rating dropping 8lbs (84 to 76). Will strip fitter for a "sharpener" at Newastle last month.
Winner of two races from 14 starts including a debut victory as a juvenile. Most recent success came under today's rider. Stable in form so one to consider.
Six-race maiden who ran some fine races in defeat. May need this first race in seven months. Looks the type to win races this season once his stable hit form.
Winner of three AW races but 0-21 on turf and on a losing run of 37. Has dropped considerably in the weights over the past 18 months. His form on grass makes him hard to fancy despite his current wellbeing.
Had some fair form for Amanda Perret but left her yard cheaply following a poor run at Brighton. Has not fared any better in three runs for new stable.
Winner on soft ground on his reappearance last season but was poor subsequently. Returns to action wearing a hood and from a poor draw.
Winner of six races drew a blank in 2016. Best effort came when beaten in a photo finish at York. Has now moved to an in form yard who have been having good success with seasonal debutants
Winner of two 6f races last summer with the promise of more to come in his second season. Both victories were on stiffer tracks than this and he may even do better over an extra furlong.
Has not been faring well on the AW of late. Beat the useful Laughton last season off a 5lb higher mark. That gives an idea of what there is to come once his astute trainer unlocks it.
C&D winner last season who has run into a couple of rivals on the AW when they were at the top of their game. Has a plum draw up the middle but usual headgear has been removed.
Admirable horse who won four times in 2016. They included C&D victories at the start and end of the campaign. Versatile in terms of going and has plenty of scope to keep improving. Starts this season on a reasonable mark.
Often catches the eye travelling well in races but now on a losing run of 20. Continues to fall in the weights and yard are in form.
Has won a couple here and arrives in form from the AW having struck up a good partnership with today's rider. Steps up in class now with a high draw to overcome.
Forecasts
Meshardal (5/1), Gin In The Inn (6/1), El Principe (13/2), Portland Street (9/1), Tricky Dicky (9/1), Lucky Beggar (11/1), Bop It (11/1), Brother Tiger (12/1), Enjoy Life (14/1), Buccaneers Vault (14/1), Steelriver (16/1), Kestrel Call (25/1), Tommy G (33/1), Extrasolar (33/1), Ad Vitam (33/1), Off The Scale (33/1)
A case can be made for a lot of these but it is TRICKY DICKY who catches the eye judged on the sprinting prowess he displayed last season. He looked the type who could keep progressing and land a decent prize for his small yard. He won first time out here last year and is taken to do so again. Gin In The Inn can go well fresh and represents a yard going well at present whilst Meshardal represents another in form yard and will be thereabouts again.
