Made little impression when last seen almost two years ago. Has a BHA rating of 60 and it is doubtful that will be good enough to land this.
A BHA rating of 46 suggests he would be better served by lining up for a handicap. Hard to fancy.
Beat a useful bumper yardstick on good ground at Musselburgh in November. Highly tried on softer ground since and interesting here on Flat debut.
Showed little in France for John Hammond and subsequently bought by new connections for 1,500 guineas. Related to some good horses but may struggle at this level.
Has been beaten a fair distance on both starts and she will qualify for handicaps after this. Looks one for the future and over further.
Cost 28,000 guineas from the successful first crop of Bated Breath out of a dam who stayed 1m4f. On that pedigree this trip is a good starting point and one to note in the market.
Placed on both previous turf starts over this trip, performances which have earned a BHA rating of 80. The ground was soft then and there were excuses when fancied on the tapeta at Newcastle last time. Has the pick of the form if able to give his showing on ground as fast as forecast.
Cost €160,00 and has posted respectable efforts in two AW maidens. Hood now tried and has been found a good opportunity. Trainer is 0-9 here.
Cost €44,000 from the first crop of Born To Sea out of a dam who has produced a winner who was effective from 7f-1m. Stable had a winner on Saturday but have a poor strike rate of 5-102 here.
Half-brother to Humungous who was effective at around this trip. Yard are off to uncharacteristic slow start to the season. That makes an eyecatching Newcastle debut all the more commendable.
Outran 150/1 odds when finishing sixth in a Doncaster maiden on debut. Sure to improve for that experience and could have a say in this.
Showed ability in a couple of maidens as a juvenile. Stable are yet to begin firing but has claims if the market signals turn positive.
Forecasts
Armandihan (9/4), Carigrad (11/4), Ninepin Bowler (11/2), Mellor Brook (6/1), Glorvina (11/1), Senatus (14/1), Rock Island Line (20/1), Acid Test (25/1), In Due Time (66/1), Dan's Hopeforglory (80/1), Sandstream (100/1), Zaytoon (125/1)
Mellor Brook and Acid Test would not have to be anything out of the ordinary to land this. It is doubtful Armandihan is as good as assessed by the handicapper but he arrives fit and with the best turf form on offer. Today he will now have to run to a mark of little more than 70 to take this. That is more than possible but NINEPIN BOWLER took the eye on his debut at Newcastle where he looked green but still managed to claim third. That was a significantly better effort than Armandihan produced at the same track, even allowing for the problems he had. Senatus is a bumper winner over 1m5f and Glorvina represents a yard that are yet to really hit form. Carigrad represents a powerful yard. The fitting of a hood and a drop to this level raises some concern. The market will help determine their prospects.
- Ninepin Bowler
- Armandihan
- Carigrad
